Take the batteries out of remote. Press every button on the remote at least once. Be careful not to leave any buttons out. Put the batteries back in, being careful to put them in correctly the first time. This doesn't cost anything and I find it works about 30% of the time. If it doesn't work the first time try again. I hope it works for you.

My Toshiba TV, Model 57HX81 quit responding to any remote control. How do we repair that or how much will it cost to have it serviced?

Does the rest of the TV work fine? If so, the problem is likely with the remote control. Have you replaced the batteries and made sure they are installed correctly? Did batteries recently leak in the remote to where the new batteries may not be making good contact with the metal springs? Has the remote been dropped a lot? If so, a solder joint may be broken for the IR transmitter.

If you have a universal remote that can be programmed to the TV model, that should make it easy to confirm if the issue is the remote or the TV.

The remote control does not work. we have changed the batteries and made sure that there isn't anything infront of the sensor, and we still cannot get the control to work

the best way to check the remote is to point the remote at a digital camera look in the viewfinder or the display and press the remote, buttons and if the remote is good you will see a small blue light at the very end of the remote!!!

My remote wont work

Make sure there isn't corrosion on the battery terminals. Try cleaning the battery terminals. Batteries left for a long time in one device will leak and corrode the terminals so even with new batteries the remote might not work. New batteries usually help too LOL !! Good Luck!

Good Day;
After changing batteries and it still does not work with THE TV's remote? One of two things; you have bad remote or IR detector on TV is Defective. MAKE SURE you press the "TV" button on remote first, then try again, esp if sound works. The remote may be an universal type.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

My remote quit working even after putting in new batteries.

Hi hanksfamily-

I have had success (about 1/2 the time) splitting the remote covers and cleaning the keypad and mating keypad contacts area with rubbing alcohol (or if it got a soda/syrup bath, Windex first and then alcohol) and then carefully reassembling. Also check for broken wires from the battery holder to the circuit board, and make sure there is no corrosion build up on the battery holder contacts.

If this doesn't work, the remote is probably toast and you need to go get you a universal replacement remote, and follow the directions to program it for your make and model.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

T V. remote control not working, new batteries instaled

Have you got a phone with a camera? The easiest way to check the remote is to "fire" the remote at the camera and view the image on the screen. If the remote works at all, you should see flashes of light around the infra-red LED on the remote. If you can't see anything, you can open up the remote, check for obvious poor solder joints. Sometimes a liquid spill insulates the keypad from the carbon contactors on the rubber pads. Try cleaning the ENTIRE remote in surgical or methylated spirit. Dry the remote thoroughly and then reassemble it and try the camera technique again. I have solved lots of remote problems this way.

Good luck.

Remote not working for TV

If the batteries are good try this:
If you have a video camera, set it to record, then point the remote at the video camera and see if you can see the lights blinking at the end of the remote. (The video camera can see the infrared light pulses emitted by the remote even though your eyes can't). If you see pulses then your remote is working. If not the your remote is broken.
