I understand that you have scratches on the ceramic stove top of your Frigidaire rage, model# FEF366. Small scratches do not affect cooking and will become less visible with time. To prevent any further scratches, make sure you do not use any abrasive cleaners. These can scratch your stove top even more. Try not to use cookware with rough bottoms. These can mark or scratch the cooktop surface. Try not sliding any metal or glass across your cooktop. This includes sliding your pans as well. Coarse particles such as salt or sand between cooktop and utensils can cause scratches. Be sure your cooktop surface and bottoms of utensils are clean before usage. I hope this is helpful.
Yes. Disconnect power to range. Open oven door and remove hex head screws at front edge of cooktop from the bottom side. Lift up front of cooktop. Burner units can then be removed from the underside of the cooktop. Be careful not to damage the gray insulating material around the burner elements if you remove the elements from the cooktop glass.
Ceramic cooktop cleaning tips - especially for 2-in difficult-to-remove stain: Best Idea: "Cerama Bryte" + plastic scrubbie Cerama Bryte is specifically designed for this cooktop, works on stains, avail at Hardware Stores.
Other ceramic cooktop tips: 1. "Soft Scrub" plasic scrubbie 2. Comet cleanser + sponge 3. Single-edge razor blade held at 45-degree angle - scrapes off material 4. "Cook Top" cleaner (WalMart) + Mr. Clean "Magic Eraser" abrasive pad 5. baking soda on damp sponge 6. soak stain for awhile with Formula 409, Fantastic, or citrus degreaser ("Orange Clean") 7. ammonia + water - in a 1:1 solution 8. Easy Off oven cleaner - it foams on the stain and does the work for you - let it sit 20 min. 9. the nuclear option: Cerama Bryte under a plastic scrubbie under an orbital sander with sandpaper removed (just the pad down on top of the scrubbie), after pre-soaking in Citrus Degreaser. The sander is a power tool which only saves your joints, and speeds up the chore.
It is recommended that you use a straight edge razor blade and push in one direction to remove anything stuck to the surface of a glass cook top. Stubborn, cooked on, substances can be cleaned by scrubbing with a light abrasive cook top cleaner and/or a green kitchen scrub pad. The green srub pads are considered non-abrasive and safe for cook tops. You can also use liquid dish detergent (such as Dawn) to break through grease and grime. DO NOT use steel wool, SOS pads, or any scouring powders. These products can permanently scratch or dull the finish on your cook top. If you have any questions please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.
What are you using to clean the stove? Only cleaners made for ceran type tops should be used according to directions. Do not use enamel coated pans or glass pans on your cooktop. If you have a boil over, turn off the burner and change to a different burner immediately. Clean up the spill completely before cooking on that burner again. Use a flat edge razor to clean tough residue. Your cooktop will look new for years to come, even with heavy use.
As far as the scratch, don't use abrasive cleaners on the top and only use pots and pans with flat bottoms. If you do use cast iron pans, never scoot them around on the top.
Hey Becky, You can probably do this! There are screws that you need to remove around the cook top part of this range, and then you can lift the top up much like the hood of a car. You should take a very small hard bristle brush (like one that you clean a grill with) to clean the air and gas holes out. Just rember, we have parts and we ship nationwide of you need us for anything. Hope this solves your problem.
IMPORTANT: Before cleaning, make sure all controls are off and
the oven and cooktop are cool. Do not use oven cleaners, bleach
or rust removers.
1. Remove the burner cap from the burner base and clean
according to “General Cleaning” section.
2. Clean the gas tube opening with a damp cloth.
3. Clean clogged burner ports with a straight pin as shown. Do
not enlarge or distort the port. Do not use a wooden
toothpick. If the burner needs to be adjusted, contact a
trained repair specialist.
4. Replace the burner cap, making sure the alignment pins are
properly aligned with the burner cap.
5. Turn on the burner. If the burner does not light, check cap aligment.
