Can't get Trendnet TEW-432 router to connect to internet with motorola modem

Hi. We recently moved and got a new DSL connection through AT&T. Before we moved, we had DSL through Windstream and were using the Trendnet TEW-432BRP router. We never had any problems with it. Currently, we have no problems getting internet with the modem hooked up directly to the computer. However, with the router connected, we cannot get internet access. I tried calling Trendnet tech support and they had me reset the router and then try accessing the internet with my modem connected to the WAN port on the router and then the router connected via port 4 to my tower. When I still had no internet connection, they told me I needed to call my internet provider to put my modem into bridge mode with the router. I'm confused as to why we're having this problem now. Is this bridge mode what is really necessary here?

I had this same problem. I was going to go ahead and call ATT and ask them to put my modem into bridge mode, but I messed around a bit more....

I went ahead and turn on PPPoE...tried to run the set up again. Well it worked. Not the internet connection is working through the modem. For some reason, the setup changed PPPoE back to DHCP Client, but it's working now. Give this a shot before calling ATT if you like. Good luck.

This may or may not be of help, but this is easy enough to try....

Power off computer, cable modem, and router.

Connect router to cable modem via WAN port, PC to router via LAN port

Power up cable mode first, wait until for connection light

Power up the router, wait about a minute

Power up the PC

I have Cablevision and have had an issue when you are going to connect a different device directly to the cable modem (eg router instead of PC), you need to reset the cable modem first or it will not work.

The following link shows you how to log directly into the router and run the setup Wizard from the router.

Problem using Wa1003A and Tew 432 brp to share my internet

lan wires are the same. lan wires used to connect your computer to your modem can also be used to connect your Wa1003A adsl router and TEW 432 brp.

you just got some things mixed up.

1. you should set your Wa1003A adsl router to bridge mode. At this point, it will just be "pass through" device and will not be the one who will ask for IP adds from your ISP.

2. configure your TEW 432 brp with your pppoe username and password. Your TEW 432 brp will now ask the network for the IP address to that it can connect to your ISP.

3. leave your lan wires the same.

How to solve it???

your trendnet is just a router and it should work with any ISP whether if it's cable or dsl. you just need to connect it to the broadband modem provided by your ISP and configure with the correct settings.
with cable conncetion you just simply connect the ethernet(LAN) port of the modem to the internet(WAN) port of the router. then perform a power cycle by turning all the devices off. after that, turn on the modem first and wait for the lights to lit up before powering on the router and the computers. if this will not work you need to access the router's page and perform a mac address clone.
for dsl connection, you need to get the username and password of your internet account from your ISP then set your router to PPPoE or PPPoA.
you need to also check that your modem and your router has different ip addresses to make them connect to each other properly.

hope this'll help you but if you still have the same problem, just give me the exact model of your modem and who is your ISP

ciao!

Trendnet TEW-432BRP

What exactly is the problem? Are you using Cable or DSL internet? Did you connect the cable from the modem to the WAN port on the router and the computer to the LAN or 1 port on the router?
