If the total connection to the motor was removed and still the ELCB trips off, then the fault seems to be with the main controller unit. There is an error in this unit that is causing the program to make the error when the program activates the wash stage. It can varry from a short in the drive to a leak inthe drive.
So the best way to look is to disconnect the drive/pre-drive of the motor.
If the trips stops then you will find this drive as the suspect.
Hi just read your posting. Now in your posting you mentioned that you disconnected the motor terminals. Is this correct? And the problem still trips the earth trip. From my experience on the LG machines it is the heating element which causes the earth trip to activate.Try this,Put the motor terminals back to the motor and remove the wires from the element.Make the wires safe with insulation tape and the turn the power on to the machine and select a cycle. Please reply on how you got on and for further help.Lookingh forward to your reply.
Hi.
If the machines trips circuit breaker with motor not-connected, that means that there is a short in wiring from control board , or that the main electronic control is also defective.
If there is an additional control unit wired to the motor (MCU motor control unit), then this part may also be responsible.
Testing is done reading Ohms on the opposite polarity wires to motor. If they show continuity with low impedance, that means that there is a short. Testing MCU (motor control unit, held in a sealed module inside washer) or CCU (timer control board) is more complicate.
Well..thanks for the nice feedback.
Sorry about your decision.
You could have asked for clarification at least, you haven't even posted the model number.
On your request the problem will be passed to other expert.
Good luck and goodbye.
Ginko.

Hello luisa,
Heater has been disconnected as well as motor and still tripping when wash cycle starts.Itseems like a fault in the control module .If i programme drain only there is no problem only on wash cycles.
