Most likely your belt is broken or has slipped off. Go to the following web page, and it has a video of how to change them and fix the problem:
http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-replace-belt-dyson-dc25-385358/
Other than that, the motor switch could be bad.
Good luck, hope this helps, and thanks for using FixYa.

How do I clean the brush area after using my Pro Heat?

The brush or brushes (depending on your model) can be removed if needed. Routine cleaning should just require removing hair and debris from the brushes and wiping the area around the brushes.
There should actually be very little hair or debris around the brush roll if the carpets are thoroughly vacuumed by a properly working vacuum cleaner before being cleaned.

Brush bar won't turn

Belt is broken or over stretched and needs to be replaced. If belt is good, then clean threads that wrap around the brush at each end. Then place a couple drops of motor oil at each end of brush where a crack goes in a circle around the brush.

Where is belt located on Hoover wind tunnel vacum. And how to replace it. My brushes are not spinning.

Its usually located underneath the body of the unit, turn it upside down and you should see the beater brush. You need to open the bottom cover to get at the brush and drive belt.

HOW TO CANGE BELT ON SIMPLICITY 9.8 VACUUM

This is pretty easy. Turn vac upside down, remove brush cover, brush with belt on it pops out on each side. You must get the exact replacement belt so take your model number and any other numbers to vacuum repair shop. The belt around brush then around motor spindle, replace brush and cover.

The brush bar isn't going round ?

your problem seems to be the belt has snapped. Underneath the the hover there is a rubber belt that connects around the brush bar and around the motor, this belt will be broken. They can purchased from any hoover shop for a couple of pounds.

Brushes will not rotate

I can't tell for sure from the pictures, but there are two possibilities - the drive belt to the brushes broke, or the brush can't turn due to excessive hair wrapped around the shaft. If the belt is OK but the brush does not turn, you should smell burning rubber.

If the belt is broken, you have to remove the bottom plate to expose the brush, remove the brush and the broken belt, and replace the belt, and put it back to gether. While you have the brush out, now would be a good time to clean it - remove the hair, etc from the brush and around the shaft. Good Luck!

How do i replace the belt on my hover

lower handle to floor and flip entire unit over. In the bottom near the brush, there are 2 levers that hold the cover on. flip both levers and pull up on cover. It will come out of the 2 wire holders that hold down the 2 front tabs. With the cover removed you can easily access the brush. Firmly grasp 1 side of the brush and pull straight up. This may take a lot of force as the brush may have been seated for a long time. Pull both sides out and clean the area underneath the brush. Also make sure nothing is wrapped around the brush or motor.
After cleaning you're ready to install new belt. Place new belt around brush. After pushing brush through the new belt, with belt loosely around brush slide brush back into housing 1 side at a time. The brush fits in very tightly. The ends have 2 pieces of metal that act as springs, these are installed facing the top. Make sure the brush is pushed down tightly toward the bottom or the cover will not fit right. Once brush is in stretch belt around motor tip. Replace cover by placing the 2 tips into the wire clips and close. Flip the latches closed and turn machine over. Lift handle and you're good to go. You have now completed the worlds longest instructions for a vacuum belt...ever!

My brush roller stopped spinning so I had to take it off and clean out all the hair that had gotten wound around it. I replaces it and now it is make a lound noise, but only when the brush is on. Could it...

Could very well be the belt. When cleaning the brush it is a good idea to add some WD40 at the ends where the plastic pieces are that hold the brush in the vacuum. The brush needs to be able to move freely around the plastic pieces. Add the WD40 and rotate the plastic pieces around the brush until they move freely. Reassemble making sure the belt is put in correctly so the brush moves in the right direction.
Please provide a Thumbs Up if this solution is of help to you. Paul

Installing a belt

1. Unplug the vacuum
2. Take the bottom cover over the brush off by removing the 3 screws
3. Switch the brush roll control lever to bare floor
4. Take the roller brush out
5. Put the belt around the small pulley from the motor
6. As you are putting the roller brush back in put the belt around the space on the roller brush - center the belt on that space - THE BELT WILL NOT BE TIGHT BUT THAT'S NORMAL
7. Reinstall the bottom cover with the 3 screws

THE BELT DOES NOT GO AROUND THE SILVER PULLEY CONNECTED TO THE BRUSH ROLL CONTROL LEVER

Bissell Shampooer, The brushes will not stay up so can,t push it.

Did this start happening after you removed the clear side pieces, to clean around the brushes? You may have loosened or removed the black plastic arms that hold the brushes in place off the floor. One goes on each side, and is mounted to the Bissell with a silver screw with a built in washer. The brushes fit inside these two arms, and they are also held in position by the black belts. The big one goes around both brushes on the left side as I face the machine. The small one goes around the back brush and a small cog on the right side, as I face the Bissell.
