Question about Pelican International Pelican Apex 130t Kayak Orange (13)

1 Answer

I have a Pelican Apex 130T that I cinched down too hard on my roof rack. It pushed in the bottom underneath the backseat and deformed it. How do I get it back out and get a normal looking bottom of this watercraft?

This can be difficult. If it was my boat I would try:

  1. If bottom flat, lay on flat floor like garage or deck. If not flat, then work on lawn.
  2. Let the sun (and maybe a bit of extra heat, but not much) warm the bottom so it is a bit pliable.
  3. Apply force to put the bottom back into shape. If not a flat bottom, then some care is required. This is usually done with internal blocks of wood or foam to hold the hull in its proper shape. In more extreme cases you can inflate an air bag in there to maintain pressure over a larger area. (BE VERY CAREFUL if you use an inner tube--it can burst your boat!)
  4. Once it is back to about the shape you want, leave it in that position for a few days, and to cool down.
  5. With any luck, that will reverse most of the dent. If you don't get it all the first time, you might want to try again. In fact, I suppose it might be better to work on it twice rather than do too much in one go. I really am not sure on that part.
  6. With these poly boats, you may never get them back to original shape, but they will almost always accept some re-bending to get back to a more useable shape.

Are hard roof racks better than soft roof racks?

Soft roof racks are good if you don't carry your board often because they are easy to put on and take off, but since they aren't totally secured you run the risk of scratching up the roof of your car, while the hard racks are more permanent by attaching to the cars roof crossbars.

How are the cross rails on the roof rack adjusted on a 2005 santa fe

YOU SHOULD HAVE A LITTLE BLACK OVAL RECESSED CENTER. THIS GOES OVER THE S LOOKING SYMBOL IN THE UPPER PART OF THE CROSS ARM PUT THE KEY IN THE SLOT AND TURN 1/4 TURN. YOU HAVE TO PUT PRESSURE ON THE KEY AS YOU TURN. NOW LIFT UP ON THE RELEASE AND PUSH DOWN ON THE PART BELOW THE RAIL AT THE SAME TIME. AFTER YOU MOVE THE CROSS PCS. TO ITS LOCATION LIFT UP ON THE BOTTOM AND PUSH DOWN ON THE TOP. DONT TRY IT WITH THE LITTLE KEY.

2002 VW Golf Headreast Removal

Same proceedure as front headrests but tilt the back of the seats forward about halfway. Push the little clip in on top of the seat, by the chrome rail, pull the headrest up and slide out of the hole. Push the back of the seat back, lift up the bottom seat and tilt forward. Lay the back seats down. Done.

Rear seatbelts jammed down backseats

hello tracieandmia, I am assuming that the seatbelt buckles are just underneath the seat. The rear seat bottem can be removed for access. If you reach under the front part of the seat bottem near each corner and lift up, the seat will release. You will need to give it a little yank and use a little force for it to release. Once each corner is released you can remove the seat bottem. To install the seat, slide it back under the seat back and push hard down on each front corner that you had previuosly pulled up at. You should hear a definite click/lock sound when the catches are locked.

The backseats of this vehicle do not fold down. They are placed on hooks and then they're bolted in on the bottom right and bottom left of the seat.

Convertible top will not retrack

Hi Stan

First of all the roof is not even soppose to operate while the trunk is open - So there is the first problem Ive been involved with BMW's for a long time and this is the first Ive heard of a roof opening while the trunk is open. There is a built in feature that tells the car not to open the roof if the trunk is open and the other way roung while the roog lid is open the trunk cant open.

The reason the roof is not working anymore as soon as there is stress on the roof the electric motors(One operates the roof and the other operates the roof lid)  disengages, You said that the roof still worked but the lid did not so probably only the one motor disengaged. So what you have to do is open the trunk on the left hand side right behind the tail light pull away the material and simply just push the electric motor into place. that should fix your problem.

It may happen that the two motors have become out of sync, Disengage both electric motors manualy put the roof away engage the motors and that should put the roof and lid back into sync.
