My oven isn't working. The rangetop turns on fine, but the oven doesn't do anything no heat, and I don't think there's any gas comng to it, but I'm not sure. Its just dead.
The Top works but not the oven. Also...it makes a lot of noise
Most likely cause of no operation is a faulty gas ignitor, simple enough to chsnge 2 wires and a few screws mounting unit to the side of burner bar under the oven floor

It sounds like the igniter isn't lighting the flame, or the flame isn't sensing once lit. Check the burner to see if anything has fallen onto the burner or electrodes to prevent it from working. Also check the holes on the burner to see if they are blocked. If it is all clear it may be a control box issue.
Hello Jim, Believe it not the igniter is the problem,yes indeed it is coming on yet it is not getting hot enough to allow the gas valve to open. By replacing the igniter with a fresh strong one, the oven will work just fine.
Make sure the thermocoupler is being heated by the pilot light flame. It could also be gunked up but you can clean it with a scouring pad, or it might need to be replaced. The thermocoupler is the most likely cause because if it isn't heated then the gas valve will not open up and no gas will flow to the burner. Since your pilot light is on then you do have gas to the valve.

The most likely cause of a oven not heating correctly is a defective heating element. You have two types of heating elements in your oven. The bottom element(s) are the baking elements. The element(s) on the top are the broil elements. If you don't see the bright red glow from the element, chances are they are not working or not working correctly. If a heating element is bad, you need to replace the entire element. If your oven is warm and not correctly hot, one of the elements may be bad. In most ovens, when you preheat, both elements are used. This would make the oven to appear like it is working correctly but it is not. If the elements are not working, they might not be getting power. Test the wires to the elements with a voltage meter to make sure they are getting power before you decide to change them out. Many electrical ovens have a sensor that monitors the oven temperture. Ovens that have this sensor usually contain a digital display on the oven. The sensor could be defective. Those without the sensor use the basic mechanical system to control the oven temperature. You also want to check the thermostat sensing bulb. Make sure the bulb is good and has not come loose. Now, if you have a gas range oven that doesn't heat properly, first, you want to check your bake igniter. It may have burned out or it could be not working properly. It will be located near your burner. It is also possible that you are not getting gas to the burner. If so, it may be the gas safety valve or the igniter. You need to check your selector switch and thermostat as well. They may be defective. Always make sure you test the parts for power with a voltage meter of some type before you decide to change the part. pull out the racks and remove the bottom floor of the oven,turn it on bake,if the ignitor doesn't glow most likely it's bad,if it does glow and it doesn't ignite within 40 to 60 seconds the ignitor is bad.even though it glows doesn't mean it's good,it works by amps.it takes 3.2 amps.for a flat ignitor to open the gas valve and 2.5 amps for a round ignitor to open the gas valve.

next time send the brand name and model number so i can look up your machine,if it's a gas stove most likely it will be a bad ignitor,even if the ignitor glows it still could be bad,if the flame doesn't ignite and the ignitor is glowing change it out,if it isn't glowing pull out the ignitor and check it with a meter,common problem.
Personally I wouldn't describe an oven that doesn't heat up as working fine. You shouldn't have any air in your gas line unless this is the first time firing the oven, in either case the air in the gas line would work its way out eventually and the oven would light on its own.
Check to see if your ignitor is glowing before you hear the clicking, if the ignitor isn't glowing it needs to be replaced and is fairly easy to do so. If your ignitor is glowing you should check to make sure you are getting gas to the burner. The only way I would recommend checking this is with your nose, do you smell gas when the gas valve clicks? If you do then something is wrong with the burner, either dirty or the exhaust is too strong, or even gas pressure too low. If you don't smell any gas that doesn't necessarily mean no gas is coming out, at this point you should call a authorized service provider to take it over from here.
