Hello there and thanks for the response

The file types I am trying to convert are .avi.

I am using the Arcsoft converter that came on the cd with the player.

The model number of the player is 'SA6185/02 and shows in the arcsoft converter and on my computer as a 'SA61xx'

I have not tried .VOB files yet but will do soon.

    Thanks

    Derek Brown.

What file type are you trying to convert to .WMV?

Also, are you using the Arcsoft video convertor? If not, it should be on the CD.

I think the Philips convertor was only for the SA31XX range.

If you are trying to convert .VOB DVD files, then it will not work directly from a bought DVD as it is copy protected.

It's unlikely to be a fault with the player.

I have just run the Arcsoft Convertor with a DivX encoded .AVI file and it processed correctly.

One possible cause of this problem is that you may not have DivX codecs installed on your PC.
To check this, try playing your .AVI file in Windows Media Player. If it doesn't play, then you will need to download the necessary codecs. Try www.divx.com

If it plays ok, then continue---->

I assume you are trying to convert and transfer directly to the SA6185.

In this case try converting the file before connecting the player and transferring:

Open Arcsoft Media Convertor
Drag the .AVI file into the program window
Click the "Select Player:" drop-down menu and select SA61xx manually.
The "Convert To" setting should default to Folder.
The default folder setting is My Documents/Arcsoft MediaConvertor/

Click "Convert" to start the process.

If this works, then when the process has finished, navigate to the converted file.
Connect the player to the PC, and drag & drop the .WMV file directly into the Video folder of the SA6185.
Disconnect the player when the display says "Ok to disconnect" and restart.
Go to the video option and your movie should be listed and ready to play back.

If the Convert process doesn't work then, the file is most definitely the cause of the problem. If so, post again with details of the file, and how it was created.

I can't convert my videos to the format that the Philips GoGear Vibe can support.

Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX. If your player cannot play a video then it is anincompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video file to aformat that your MP3 player uses. NEED TO USE THE PHILIPS MEDIA CONVERTER APPLICATION PROVIDED TO CONVERT FILES TO FORMAT THAT THE PLAYER CAN READ

Hello,

All support for the SA6045/02 is on this page:
http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=SA6045/02&slg=en&scy=GB
Scroll down to Software and drivers to see the Media Converter software.

Click the zip file and best would be to save the file to a location on your computer.
After the download finished, unzip the file with WinZip or Winrar.
Open the folders of the extracted files:
under folder
MC_2.0.2.80_SA33xx_SA61xx_Intl_GM_CD02004_0928 start Setup.exe to install Media Converter Software, ArcSoft.

MediaConverter for Philips converts following formats to player, into WMV :
AVI (Microsoft video I format), MPEG-1, 2, 4, DVD (*.vob), MOV, WMV, RM etc.
Needs Quicktime (for MOV) and Windows Media Player 11 (for WMV)
installations.

Philips SA3125\02 MP3 player

your mp3 player supports the following :
  1. Indeling: Sigmatel Motion Video (.smv)
  2. Framesnelheid: maximaal 11 fps
  3. Grootte: maximaal QQVGA (160 x 128 pixels)
  4. .wmv ( Window media video-indeling, WMV 7, WMV 8, WMV9 )
your mp3 player should have come with a cd and on the cd is a special video converter app called : Philips Video Converter

you should be able to convert your videos in the right format with that.

Video promblem

You have to use the Philips Media Convertor supplied on the product CD to convert from .WMV to .SMW.

Other video convertors will convert other fromats to .WMV, but you still have to convert to .SMV because the player only reads .SMV

Converting file to video format ( i.e. SMV format)

Get another video converter and convert it to Windows Media Video (WMV) then convert it to SMV videos from there. IT works 100% Guaranteed.
