Question about PDAs

I have an archos 504 gen 4.It was working fine until last week ,it will not turn on.I tried another battery but still unable to get any life into it.

    The warranty has run out as I have had it about 1 1/2 years.I will try and clean it out to see if that works.

Can you charge the batteries?
You mention you tried another batterie, but are you sure that was charged?

    If the batteries are charged (for sure) and yet you cant turn it on, it might bethat something is causing a short circuit, you can either try to clean the battery connections, or open it up and try to see if something is lose.

    In my opionion just ask for warranty if u hav eit

    Hello again, 

    matchiep3x, dont trow it out, i dont know if you really ment you were going to trow it, butif you were, have in mind you can either     -take it to a repair shop
    -get in contact with Archos (it could cost some money but you will still have it)
    -Sell it in a website (such as amazon) and see who wants to buy it and mess with it.
    -If you are going to sell it, and might be interested in buying anoter Archos or PDA. I ecomend you to go to amazon, and google some products there, you can also go to Archo's or Palm's webpage and search for some PDAs.

Hi,
i,d suggest locating the user manual.
and trying a hard-reset. this can sometimes work. usually a small hole to insert the stylus at the bottom or underside of the PDA. Also try attaching the PDA to computer via a sync cable or cradle.

failing this, you may have a faulty on/off power button.

    Since a different battery doesn't work, I would think the most probable cause is a loose connection or wire. Please clean the battery connection for sure and then I believe you will have to open up the device and check the wires coming from the battery compartment. If it is still under warranty, simply take it to them before attempting anything. Please let me know of any questions that come up with this. thanks

    Well, you can always try opening it to look for a loose connection,

    If you are going to get rid of it, why not try selling it to a camera repair shop or see if any electronic tech guy that you know might want to mess around with it, otherwise have a good night and good luck on finding another camera.

Your initial thought is probably the answer, the battery has internally short circuited due to age. In this case, the charger cannot produce enough energy to overpower the battery's consumption. While I do not recommend trying this, a tech center I worked at would "shock" a battery back to life by connecting it to a car charger for a few seconds to eek a few more weeks or months of use out of one. Again, I don't recommend this as a battery can explode and cause harm when treated this way.

The battery life of my ku990 is abnormal


The two main causes of battery life loss that no one thinks of are:

backlight settings (if you don't really need the backlight to stay on for 60 seconds after the last button press, lower it. this is a huge waste of battery life and it is easily changed in the settings menu of nearly every phone i have seen)

poor signal areas (when you have low signal, you phone wastes its battery life searching for acquirable signal. if it is unable to locate the signal, it will continue to search. this search uses up your battery life quite rapidly)

sounds like the battery is shot. Get a new battery and fully charge it. I try to charge my phone more off of a power outlet and not the cigarette lighter in a auto. The battery will last longer that way. something about cigarette lighters. As far as the messaging and failed calls goes. up grade your tower signals. contact your cell phone company and get the number for upgrading the towers.

My G1 battery charge does not last that long it discharges real fast


Well, the G1 is a smartphone and it's constantly on the internet so it's obviously going to use a lot more battery power. However 3 hours is ridiculously short! You could try recalibrating the battery. To do this you use your phone until it has completely run out of charge and switches itself off. Then you turn it on again and again until all that it shows is a red LED and it refuses to turn on. After this you charge it while it's off until the green LED has been on for 2 hours. Hopefully this will help improve your battery life.

LG viewty ku990 - no battery life and phone gets really hot

I dont know if this will help you, but it helped me. I had the same problem, with phone not holding charge and getting really hot both during and after complete charge.
I needed my memorycard from my LG to my other phone, so I took it out, and off course the phone needed to be charged so I charged it, and... it did not get hot at all, and when it was finished, the charge lasted a day and a half!! Now the problem is I cant use the memorycard anymore in my Viewty :S Win/Loose situation i guess....

Plug the ac wall adapter to charge the PDA and leave it there.

When the PDA exhausted the battery charge, it needs minimum 30 minutes to charge to the minimum level to have the PDA powering on.

Once it powers on, leave it charging the battery until is fully charged (3-4 hours).

try this tricks....

If you encounter situation like below on your 6670,

1. Blank screen phone unable to reboot.
2. Phone only able to boot-up to "Nokia" word screen.
3. Install some program but not able to uninstall it after that.
4. Error messages such as "Child Installer" keeps popping-up.

Do a Full phone formatting on your 6670! as steps below,

1. Make sure you have at least 3/4 charge of battery power left.
2. Backup your contacts list and personal files to MMC memory card.
3. Switch-off your 6670phone.
4. Press and hold 3 keys;
Green dial key, * (star key) & no. 3 key and then press the power on/off to swtich on the 6600 phone.

Remember, do not let go all of the keys and hold keys until you see a NOKIA turns to white screen LCD!

5. After a few minutes when the Full phone formatting completed, your 6670 will back to original system and factory settting.

All apps installed & not of the phones' default will be lost. If you did a backup on your mmc, you can restore it back to the C drive again.

go to the Cellphone Shop nearby and try to re-program your mobile or Hardware...

Ipaq rx3115 doesnt turn on!


I am guessing that you have made sure that it is fully charged. If it is, since you have only had it a week I would try a hard reset. I don't know if the 3115 has them but check to make sure that any battery door lock switches are locked.
