Question about Miele T9820 Gas Dryer

1 Answer

Hi, The clean air vent light came on and shut the dryer off. We cleaned out the lint catcher and the space it sits in and the dryer vent to out side. Nothing of significance found. Dryer continues to beep and flash and not turn on. Is there something that needs to be reset for the dryer to resume normal working condition? I prefer not to call a tech.

My gas drier shuts off before clothes are dried

Also it can be a few other issues:

1: It could be an issue with the lint catcher. Take the lint catcher out, clean off all the see-able lint, then take it to the bathroom and try to run water through it. If the water settles or doesn't run through very well, take an old toothbrush and scrub that clean under water until water passes through easily. This issue caused my dryer to shut off without being dry too
2: Depending on how new your dryer is, it may have a dryness sensor in it. That sensor may not be working well or at all causing the problem as well.
3: Finally your heater could be going out in your dryer and causing it to hot get hot enough in the time you set for the clothes to be dry.

Hope these 3 things help you.

Shut off after pulling out the lint catcher. It had some BB's that fell down the shoot. Then shut off. Will not restart. Is there a safety switch that may have tripped (fire safety)

if the dryer was running and you pulled out the lint filter most likely all the lint got removed and jammed the blower wheel.unplug it,remove the vent line and the back panel, then remove the duct that the lint filter slides into and clean it out.i'm assuming this is a whirlpool or kenmore, you could have cooked the thermal fuse also,it's a white piece next to the duct,it has two wires going to it and the part number is 3392519,check it with a meter, you have to pull at least one wire off when you read it out to get the true reading, vac out the duct and all the lint,if the vent line is long, blow it out with a leaf blower, all the lint will blow outside through the outside vent, then you can remove the front and vac out all the lint in the cabinet and clean off the motor.good luck

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

Taking long time to dry the clothes

Due to a dryer either heats or no heat , I would suggest pulling the dryer out and removing the vent hose . Dry a load of clothes to see if they dry normally . If they do , this verifys that the vent hose is either kinked ( restricting air flow ) , or , if the vent runs UP inside the wall , there is a restriction between the inside vent hose to the outside vent . May have to go into the attic to clean .

My Indesit WIDL126 washer/dryer doesn't dry clothes

You have an air flow problem. This usually happens when the exhaust pipe/vent gets clogged. Clean/inspect the vent outlet, the pipe, the inlet, and the filter/lint catcher area.

Improper air flow prevents the moisture from being vented out of the dryer.

My Asko dryer does not dry clothes. It shuts off

It is quite common for lint to cover the blower on these units, making it impossible for the dryer to move any air.

1)remove the lower panel. you will need a T20 driver for this and may need to tip the dryer slightly to the rear

2)remove the left part of the blower plenum. this is held by 3 plastic tabs and a T15 screw

You will now see the blower wheel, it is a squirrel cage type. Check for lint buildup, broken vanes, or string/thread wrapped around the shaft.

if there is no problem with the blower then there is another reason you are not moving air. let me know if this helps

Dryer shuts off on E-1 code..Lint trap has been cleaned as well as vent hose and vent riser to outside.

Check for brisk air flow at outlet of vent hose (hose disconnected). If weak, remove lint screen and retry. If now has brisk flow, clean screen in hot water and detergent.

Check local HD, Lowe's, Wal-Mart, etc. for a Dryer vent cleaning kit. Among other items, there is a flat tube attachment which connects to your vacum hose allowing you to get into the lint filter area.

In most every case i have seen this happen, the dryer is connected to flexible venting. Flexible venting is the worst thing for a dryer. Rigid aluminum only. If your element shuts down that fast, it is definitely an air flow problem. Remove the front, clean out the lint screen housing from the spout to the blower, all the way to the lint screen so that it looks factory clean. The venting must be absolutely clean as it was the day it was put in new. The outside application, whether it is louvers, vent flapper, or ball vent, must be clean and operable as a new one. Once again, my suspicion is the venting as it is most likely a flexible type of venting with either excessive length or restricted flow. A dryer can only be vented for 30 ft. counting 5ft for every elbow and 5ft for the outside application. But the flexible equates as this...for every 1 foot of flex you must add 5 foot because of air restriction. I am surprised that the non resetable fuse has not blown yet. ( it will, trust me.)
