Usually this is due to a partially blocked drain. Most of the time the problem is either at the sink / garbage disposal connection or the Air-Gap is blocked near your sink. The air gap sticks up above the sink about 2.5 inches. You lift off the cover, unscrew the inner plastic nut NOTING installed position of the upper cap and lift off the cap. There may be food particulate in there. Clean it out and put it back together. If you foind nothing there then remove the hose from your under sink connection and clean the hole out that the hose connects to.

If you do all of the above and the problem persists just repsond here and we can continue troubleshooting.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Hi again, I had asked that you clean the air gap and the sink connection portions of the drain and then hopefully you would comment so we could continue troubleshooting, The fact that the post was rated tell me that you either did not clean the drain ports or you just did not accept the fact that a partially clogged drain does in fact cause water to be left in the dishwasher after a frain cycle. Since you made not a single work comment and obviously are not interested in a DIY repair as I said there is more that can be done and all you had to do was respond it seems my efforts to help you have gone to waste. I have been doing this for over 40 years and passed you sound advice expecting a typed reponse from you if cleaning the air-gap and drain ports did not correct your drain problem. Here is a just a little of my history: http://blog.fixya.com/index.php/2010/05/...
We had a family owned buisness and I worked at 2 other in home Appliance repair shops over the years.

Due to a 2 TU rating and no response it appears you have no interest in getting the symptoms corrected. If you really want to correct the problem respond here AFTER you make sure the Air-Gap and sink drain connevtions have ben opened and cleaned and we can start checking inside the dishwasher to determine the cause of your poor draining problem. Unless you respond I will make no further comments.

Lets just as an example proceed as if I were called to you home to repair your dishwasher.

Before I did any of the below steps I would disconnect the Air-Gap and Sink connections and clean them thoroughly.

The next step would have been to unmount the pump and check item 328 and 329 of this link for obstructions:

http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partse... Additionally you would check the pump inlet for ostructions and the drain pump impeller for damage.

That would be followed by removing the drain hose item 463 and checking the pump port for obstructions and looking at the outer portion of the impeller blades for damage.

After that the turbidity sensor Item 321 would be removed and the sump would be checked for debris using a flashlight. Usually by this time the drainage problem would have been determined but if not the sump assembly Item 505 would have to be removed and cleaned along with verification that the sump plate was free of debris.

You should tell the manufacturer as it is obviously a generic problem if there have been recalls. Ask them what they are prepared to do for you. You must put it in writing, no use using the phone.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

Water not draining and glasses look filmy

Call the repairman unless you are comfortable replacing the pump. It sounds like the pump is getting old and weak. The other possibility is that the pump impellers are caked with yuck. Depending on the manufacturer, they are replaceable, if they aren't cleanable.

Dishwashing powder/liqud will not dissolve

Is your dishwasher filling and draining? The detergent should mix, completely with the wash water and there should be no residue of just detergent. Make certain that the machine is filling and draining properly, otherwise, call the repairman.

I have a GE PDW 8200 Dishwasher and there is standing water in the bottom of the tube. Why is there standing water after a complete cycle?

If it is older, the pump may not be draining the machine completely. The impellers, which is what acually moves the water could be clogged with yuck and could be cleaned if you can take the machine apart. If you call the repairman, he will likely replace the pump and motor.
