Press the "UTILITY" button under the Menu heading above the 10 digit key-pad. Under "System Parameter" -Param3, check that PS2 Mouse is set to "ON" and (of course) that the connector is firmly inserted into the mouse connector socket.

You have to go on utility system parameter on the f2 parameter page vga out check on ,and operation target check vga.

But also you should make sure that you have the proper os for your vs 2.504 ,you can download it from roland site ,and you'll get information about how to upgrade the unit.

I would first try installing this into a desktop computer as a slave drive. Once hooked up you should be able to see if there is anything salvageable, files etc. yourself before you send it in for to an expensive data recovery service.

I have a Roland keyboard with a DC jack. I can wiggle the jack and the power cuts on and off. How do I fix this?

  • Hi, I can help. You just have a cold soldier joint on the DC power input.Get the top/bottom off by removing a few screws and expose the connector. Just take a little soldier and touch up the solder points on the connector on the board. That's it. Will be good as new.
  • I recommend doing this before that jack gets pulled a bit to hard and tears off the circuit board which then may require more than a couple soldier joint touch ups.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

I have a brookstone brand record player with the ability to convert records to mp3/wma files via a sd slot and a usb slot. Every time I plug in an empty flash drive/ usb toward an external hard drive, or...

Hi,
External drives require to be formatted before use on somewhere else..
Pls "format" it on your Pc and than try again....
Sometimes proper formatting is possible on the equipment itself (like Digital Cameras )
I was not able to get into your units detailed specs to see if such feature is existed..
if its exist ,you must access thru "set up menu"
Secondly ,if the display recognizes the HD than your Record player will create its own Files/ folders..try to record something even it reads "no file" and than plug it into your PC to see what has been recorded..
Hope this helps!
Take care and please

I have a roland r8 drum machine and had it for some years, and over that period of time grime and dust particles have got into the buttons, and I find it hard to get the buttons making contact, how Do I...

You cannot clean the buttons as they are micro switches mounted from inside. They are the same buttons as on your DVD player or old VCR. It will require professional help as it involves stripping the whole front panel , de-soldering the switches and then soldering new replacements. The switches are not at all costly but the job is labor oriented.
