Same problem: I can't find any clips or circles to press. I've worked on several computers in the past. This is the damn hardest case to open I've ever seen. Kudos and curses to Gateway engineers for creating a tamper resistant product. Any ideas anyone?

Pull the black clip on the back up

then use the little indented circles on each side and press in and pull up

once inside switch three green tabs to show red.... then lift up the back metal base up and it will pull away from the RAM area

Send or upload a picture of your computer and I will try to assist you; have you tried just looking in the back of the computer. typically there should be two screws and an indentation on the side panel to pull it back.

When turning on Sb-4100 I get message "unable to start driver for hpoipm07.exe". What to do?

Hi rbrown454. That file is for your HP printer. Go to hp.com and click on support and drivers and download the latest driver for your printer. While it's downloading go to add/remove programs in Control Panel and uninstall ALL HP software. Do not restart, wait for the software to finish downloading and restart. Then reinstall the software you downloaded from the internet.
In case you have the CD, reinstall the CD but make sure you uninstall ALL HP Software.
I hope this helps. Please do not forget to rate and provide positive feedback for our fast/free support today. Thank you :D

I have intel desktop board D865GBF WITH INTEL PENTIUM 4 PROCESSOR PLEASE SUGGEST ME SOME ACCESSORY FOR UPGRADING MY PC PERFORMANCE AND QUALITY

You can start with the CPU. Here is a list of supported processors for your motherboard.

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D865GBF/sb/CS-026966.htm

Then your RAM can be increased. See this page for approved/tested RAM modules:

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D865GBF/sb/CS-027111.htm

If you should install 4 1GB modules, you will only show 3.5 if you use a 32-bit operating system.

The third thing you can do is to add or upgrade a video card. This board has an 8X AGP slot. It is compatible with 0.8V or 1.5V cards only. Install one with the greatest amount of memory you can afford. Suggest 512MB or 1GB.

Those are the main improvements you can make to this, or any board for that matter.

Good luck. Thanks for using Fixya.

Computer won't boot, it loops over and over. What can i do to fix this?

Hi,

Sounds like corruption in the registry. Have you tried booting in safe mode? Try hitting the F8 key on boot and see if you can get it to boot in safe mode.

Cheers,
Ripface.

Gateway e-4100 thermal event

There can also be thermal sensors in your power supply, on your motherboard, and video card. Does your problem happen during gaming/heavy computing, after x amount of time, or totally randomly?

If your case conforms to the later ATX spec or some derivative thereof, don't block the hole in the side of the case.

Just some stuff I've run into, maybe you already know this!

How Do I Open The PC to Add Memory

Hi Elmiragez

In order to open the E-4000 chassis, you have to press a button that blends in with the rest of the system's front panel. Once open you will be able to get to memory and all. The button does blend in with the system's front panel.

Hope this is your answers your question an solves it?

Gateway sb-4100-b won't recognize new memory

Check the owners manual of your computer for the correct installation of 2 sticks of memory, this can be critical on computers with 2 banks of 2 slots, it will also tell you the maximum ram that will work. If you do not have the manual, go to the manufactures website and then go to the support link, and browse for memory installation. BPCS
