Hey folks. I like to listen to a radio program that comes on at 5am and runs to 9 am. I select "record now" on the FM option, and when I come back, it has only recorded either 5 minutes or 1.5 hrs, or 45 min...Really no rhyme or reason to it...I have fussed with the duration option, and set it for 2 hrs, but then it only records for 1.5 hrs.

unfortunately, the voice recorder works only as voice recorder, it cannot play FM and record it at the same time. though you can play fm radio from another device and record it using your SanDisk mp3 player.
To transfer your recordings from your mp3 player, connect your device to your PC.
Open "My computer" from your PC and you'll there "your Sansa Player"
Double-click on "your Sansa Player", then open the "Music" folder, then, open "Recordings" folder.
Radio will not work, unless until you plug in the headset.
Go to Settings, Reset FM, confirm with Yes. Then go to Radio, it will automatically set the radio stations to ch01, ch02, ch03,...ch20. That is Twenty radio channels will be set. You can press the record button only once, to display the station names, if you press record button continuously it will start recording the program which is broadcasted in the selected radio station.
From the main menu go to prime pack select voice record and press the center button. to listen to the recording go to music recorded files. The voice rec's are named VCE_001, VCE_002 Etc the FM rec's are named FM_001, FM_002 Etc .
make sure that the actual file is saved on to your jvc first of all , so it can be transferred , because like some camcorders you have to finalize the video before it can be used on another equipment , then if that does not work , just download audacity or any mac recorder for free of the web and play the fm radio live via av leads in to your mac and record it live coming from your jvc make sure you save it as an acc( cd quality ) file for best quality or mp3
as far as i know no patch is available, but in combination with a laptop and an audio cable (two sides jack) it is recordable (just download a random sound recording program and connect the two with the zen set on FM)
