My Dish 301 receiver won't stay powered up. When I turn the unit on, it stays on for a few seconds then automatically turns itself off. When I pull the smart card out and re-insert the card, it does the same thing. Can anyone assist me with the problem?
You might have a grounding issue or electrical power. dish receivers need a specific amount of volts, what you can do is take an extension cord n connect it to the rcvr and take the other end of the extension cord n plug it in on another outlet in another ROOM, then see if it powers on , if it does something is wrong w/ the outlet even if u have A tv or other appliace plugged in, if it doesnt turn on then call dish network n get replacement receiver
The Dish 301 is about as basic as it gets, it's one step above hand shadows for entertainment. Might try power up with card inserted if that doesn't help send it back PS was designed by a handicapped chimp I hope chimps aren't insulted.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Hi Justine, my name is Kimberly and I form part of the Social Media Department with DISH. I regret the inconvenience you are experiencing with our receiver. Please unplug the box from the electrical outlet for 10 seconds, plug it back in and allow it to power back on by itself. After the receiver powers back on, it will acquire signal and download the guide, the issue should be resolved. If the issue persists then we would need to look into replacing the receiver. You can reach me at: firstname.lastname@example.org for further assistance.

It does sound like there could be a power problem with the receiver. The
Dish Pro Plus LNB won't cause any issues with that receiver. If the
receiver is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, try plugging
it directly into the wall. If it is already directly into the wall, try a
different outlet if available.
If the problem persists, we will have to replace the equipment. You can
reach me at email@example.com to get that taken care of.
Hi t53doc,this is Mike Houston of DISH Network I was reading over your post and see wherethe receiver will not stay powered on. Hey there, my name is Cheri Torres with DISH Networkcustomer service. I came across your post and wanted to see if there wasanything I can do to help you. If both of your TVs are not showing programmingthere are a few trouble shooting steps you can try to resolve this issue. Thefirst thing you are going to want to do is check your receiver to make sure youhave both green and blue lights on. If you have just the blue light on but notthe green, the first step would be to press the power button on the front ofthe receiver once and release. You might notice that both lights are off. Ifthis is the case you are going to want to unplug the receiver from the walloutlet or the surge protector for about 10-15 seconds. Once you plug thereceiver back in allow it to reset and power itself back on. In the case thatnone of the lights come back on, even after the reset you will need to call1-800-333-3474 to get your receiver replaced. If both the green and blue lightsare on, the next step is to try all possible channels and inputs. TV1 is goingto be either on channel 3/4 or it could possibly be on an input. TV2 will needto be on channel 60 or 73. I hope this information helps you with getting yourissue resolved. If you have any other questions or concerns feel free to postback here and I will be happy to help.
Unfortunately, there is no way of saving your DVR, i would ask Dish for an upgrade to a Vip series rec, for example a 622 or 722 which can allow the use of an external hard drive. it also sounds like your root problem is with the voltage in the outet your dvr in connected to, try to plug directly into wall, if it is already, have an electrician check your voltage to prevent future issues.
Turn the receiver off using the front panel power button and then press the channel up button and hold it until the unit powers on. This will bring you to the system info screen. There you will see the remote address the remote needs to be programmed to- usually 1. Now press and hold the SAT button on top of the remote until all buttons on the top lite up and release. Now key in the two digit number shown on the screen - numbers under ten will be preceeded buy a zero. Now press the pound sign on the bottom right of the keypad. The SAT button will flash three times and then you will need to press the record button . YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO MANUEVER THE HIGHLIGHT ON THE SCREEN AND EXIT OUT OF THE SCREENS . Thanks for using Fix Ya. ---and if you can not bring up the system info screen perform the steps on the remote itself until you reach the correct number that will control the receiver- 01 thru 16. if you need further assistance please let me know.
I am assuming that when you press the select button the screen changes from the screen saver screen to a black screen. The best way too fix this is to replace the receiver. However if have another receiver in the house I would take the 301 receiver to the other location and see if the problem still exists if so new receiver is needed definitively. Thanks for using Fix Ya.
Unfotunately this is an event known as power cycling and the only resolution is another receiver. This issue is due to faulty internal components and has nothing to do with anything other than that fact. If you have further questions feel free to contact me. Thanks for using Fix Ya.
