My microwave was totally dead. Things I discovered: 1) There is an easily replacable fuse accessed by taking off the top front vent cover (two screws on top, gently massage off) and then the inside plastic grill. UNPLUG before doing this! 2) Pop off two wires on either end of fuse holder for safety. Then pop out fuse and replace. For more extensive help, there is an evelope with a wiring diagram inside the case on the inside wall! Very helpful when diagnosing the surface lamp problem (I forgot to plug the ballast back in when I closed up the bottom).

You could have burned something out on unit. Check fuse or contact GE. Look in manual for trouble shooting tips.

No power - blown fuse?

If it was run without the fan a thermal protect device was more than likely taken out. Check for that and replace the fan.

Baked a cake and noticed the next day that there is no power, the microwave has just stopped working, no power coming through. Have checked the power switch and the power outlets all working fine except...

test the thermal fuse for open or bad contact with VOM
2)check the hooks door, or release door button, +switch door for open with VOM.
see the diagram for troubleshooting.

Where do you find the internal fuse

There will be one inside directly in line with the power cord and there may be a thermal fuse on the inverter board that powers the unit.

The fuse was blown, I replaced the fuse and the display came back. I tried to heat something to see if it was fixed and it dimmed the whole house before blowing the fuse again. Is it TOAST?

Sorry to read about your problem.

It seems your have a general failure in the power control or switch failure on the unit. if your unit has power, and things lite. it is more likely you have a control/switch problem, you did not give a model number, so i cant tell you if a service call will be worth it.

Microwaves must be serviced by technicians due to the inherent dangers involved in repairing these appliances. Internal capacitors can retain a lethal electrical charge even though the unit is completely unplugged. A microwave radiation leakage test must be performed on the unit following any internal component repair.

GE Spacemaker Microwave JVM1441 BH04 tripping circuit breaker

your power transformer for the magnetron could have a shorted primary power winding, the door safety interlock switch could be mis-adjusted,this normally blows the internal unit fuse,a shorted high voltage capacitor,or diode,a bare wire inside the unit, more than the microwave on that circuit or a weak circuit breaker in the house power panel

My niece cooked something that was supposed to be in for 4 min, 40 min and then the oven went completely dead, no power at all, no lights. The breaker is fine. What do you think it is?

These can have thermal fuses inside and if it was very steamy and hot it may have blown. There are also internal fuses in the micro but these are dangerous to work inside if you do not know what not to touch.

Power but no heat

If you have no power in the microwave, check to see if the outlet is good by plugging something else into it. If there is power, you may have blown the internal thermal fuse, or the door switch may be defective. Either of these will keep your microwave from working. The thermal fuse protects both you and the oven by blowing if there is too much power going through it. When a fuse blows, it means that the wire inside that conducts electricity has broken, usually because of an electrical overload. When it blows, you need to have a professional microwave repair person replace it. If this is not the problem, it may be that your door switch has become defective. If the door switch isn't working properly, it won't let the circuit complete to operate microwave components.

No power to GE Spacemaker Microwave

I have model GE Microwave serial # JVM2070SK02. I start to cook something and it shuts off 5~10 seconds. Keyboard is still lit up, but no clock, fan, light and you cannot operate anything on the key pad. Unplug the unit and it resets. Sometimes it cooks, sometimes it doesn't? It is getting more frequent with the shutting down problem?
