I'm not sure I quite exactly understand the question, but I'll assume that you're saying you can't get wireless on a pavilion laptop. Are you sure that the modem is good? Have you tried out your laptop on another wireless connection? First, you have to narrow down the problem, then we will attack it. I'm not certain about amber lights on HP Pavilions being the on indicator or internet light, but it's an amber light on a Toshiba and stays on all the time the card is switched on. My buddy's new HP (forget model) turns on with a switch in the upper right of the laptop).
You can run the modem and laptop in to a computer shop, and they can at least tell you which is good/bad. I'm unsure if this would be a software problem, but I suppose it's possible. Most units these days are plug and play, and just work.

Thank you for contacting Fixya support, but in order for us to provide you all the proper solution for this we need to know some other details like what is the operating system of your computer, then also if this was working before I can ask you to do a system restore on the date when everything was working.

If that's the case lets try to uninstall and reinstall your wireless adapter, to do that open device manager, Right click Mycomputer > Properties > Hardware > Device manager and from there look for network adapter and once you see the wireless right click on it and click uninstall then once done restart the computer and then reconnect to wireless.

Do you have device manager open now? if you do you can find network adapter there.

OK thank you for the update , base what you said the main problem here now is your wireless adapter not being installed properly that's why its not listed under manager. Check also if you can find under network adapter a device with yellow exclamation mark if you see one that can be your wireless adapter that don't have any driver. But if you don't see it there the wireless adapter is already bad.

The problem here now is that your wireless adapter is not detected anymore by your computer this is a hardware problem already and the only way to use wireless on this computer is to go get a wireless adapter for this computer.

I am unable to turn on the wireless network adaptor on my HP Pavilion dv7-1245 Entertainment Notebook PC

Hi Jimmie,

There are several ways to turn on the wireless adapter on your Pavilion Notebook.
1. There is a power switch on the outside of the case or above the keyboard to physically turn the power to the card on and off, however some power switches can be controlled by software.

2. You can turn on the wireless card by pressing the fn+F2 keys at the same time.

3. Go to Start>Type "Mobility" in the Search box . Windows Mobility Center will appear in the Search results. Click on it to open the program.

4. You will see under "Wireless Network" on the far right side to turn wireless on or turn wireless off. Click on the button to enable or disable the adapter.

Hope this is helpful. Thanks for using Fix Ya !

I can not turn ON My Intel wifi Radio , it shows in the bottom right corner but when you open it it is off and Grayed out , unable to hit enable . Have tried several remedies that did not work and this...

It seems that the Windows wireless utility is active on your computer. Try to open the Wireless Network Connection properties on your computer. (Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > Internet Connections > right click on the Wireless Connection > choose properties ) There should be a Wireless Networks Tab. Un-check the option that says use Windows to configure the wireless connection. That should allow you to use your Intel wifi-Radio. But personnally, I would prefer to use the Windows wireless manager that any other wireless utilities.

Wireless unable to connect

Windows 7 is not best suited yet for wireless connectivity, but broadcom wireless cards/dongles are about the only ones that work favourably with this Microsoft offering. Anything to do with non working hardware IS A DRIVER ISSUE AND IF IT IS NOT IN THE UPDATE SITE YOU WILL HAVE TO DOWNLOAD DRIVERS FROM THE VENDOR OF YOUR PARTICULAR HARDWARE. MOST HARDWARE THAT WORKS IN VISTA WILL WORK IN WINDOWS 7.

hi, please make sure that you enable WPA encryption on the wireless router. Vista will give you trouble if you use WEP encryption. Also, please update the firmware on the wireless router, if possible.

Let me know how it goes.

Unable to print on wireless network or send e-mail

Recheck that the printer is shared by the computer it is connected to and that all PCs are on the same network. If no success try disabling the firewall on the pc that your printer is connected to. (If printing now works readjust the firewall permissions).

On the second open Internet Explorer; Tools; Internet Options; Connections and make sure that there is a selection for... Never dial a connection.
