We would like to connect our Epson GT-15000 scanner to our new Imac 29inch. Although we do have the scanner connected to a G5, we seem not to have any sfotware for Mac, only the Windows CD. Where can we...

No additional drivers are necessary. Your Epson GT-15000 is listed in "Printer and Scanner software available for download,"http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669 .

To add your scanner, simply plug it in. If it does not appear in Apple Menu > System Preferences > Print & Scan, you may need to run Software Update (also from the Apple Menu, second item down), and then click the plus ( + ) button in the lower-left of Print & Scan, select your scanner, and then add the printer.

The default scanning application in OS X is Image Capture. After completing the above steps, open Applications > Image Capture and you should see your scanner listed on the left.

Scanner is moving around and not hoding picture still

It sounds like the motor that is moving the image capture device under the scanner glass is damaged, or the gears are out of alignment. This can happen if the device is physically impacted with even a small amount of force. This may require repair. Things to check for are odd noises coming from the scanner, or if you can open the lid and observe it in action to determine whether or not the bar is jumping. If that is not the solution, try reinstalling the driver software.

How to scan with mac

    1. Connect a compatible scanner to your computer. A list of compatible scanners is available in technical document 107203 "Mac OS X 10.2: Scanners Compatible With Image Capture "

    2. Install any necessary software drivers that came with the scanner.

Note: Not all scanners require the installation of additional software drivers.

    3. Turn on the scanner.

    4. Press the scan button on the scanner. See the documentation that came with the scanner for specific instructions. Image Capture opens automatically and a preview scan appears.

    5. Select the area of the image you want to scan.

The scanned image is saved in your Pictures folder in your home directory and opened in Preview.

Note: These are the default options. They can be changed in the Image Capture toolbar.

Scanner leaves lines like watermarks in an image

The scanner must be cleaned internally.

If you get same problem after cleaning the scanner, then this is caused by a defective sensor array (the device that "capture" the picture) inside the scanner.

NEF Image will not open - Macintosh

RAW NEF images from Nikon cameras are proprietary formatted raw data directly from the cameras's sensor. If the images are improperly transferred to the computer they will not be able to be opened and will give an "Unsupported File Format" warning. Macintosh OS X has an "Image Capture" application (found in: Hard Drive/Applications/)that can be used to transfer images. If "Image Capture" is used NEF files will be corrupted and will not be able to be read. Only Nikon View, or manually dragging images from the mounted card, should be used to transfer NEF's. To disable "Image Capture": Double-click to open the hard drive and then the "Applications" folder Double-click "Image Capture" From the "Image Capture" menu choose "Preferences..." In the "When a camera is connected" pop-up choose "No Application" Close the Preferences window and Quit Image Capture After disabling Image Capture, it will not launch when the camera is connected and you can use Nikon View to properly transfer NEF images.
