Question about GE GSS25SGPSS Side by Side Refrigerator

2 Answers

I have a ge fridge model GSS25SGPASS, the ice dispensor, after getting ice kept running trying to dispense ice, when i would push the light switch in (door closed) it would run, door open stopped. also the freezer motor is running but not keeping the food frozen. After taking the door switch out and putting it back in (light works connection is good) the dispensor stoped trying to put ice out the door but now it won't dispense water or ice and the food is thawing out. Any help is greatly appreciated thank you.

thank you for the reply, however, i don't understand why the ice maker would keep trying to dispense ice out the chute when the door was closed then by pulling the light swith out an puttting back in it stop but now it won't dispense ice or water? Seemed as if it stoped keeping the food frozen shortly after this began?

thank you for the response, however it was not the ice maker, it was the main control board. there isn't any doubt the board was fried for there wasmelted pieces and scorch marks on it also i watched as the repairman pulled off the cover and we both saw it at the same time. I think both experts were hung up on the ice maker and just couldn't get past that. regardless thank you for the responses.

Here is information about the ice problem:
http://www.geappliances.com/search/fast/infobase/10000594.htm
This website lists the possible things that will keep it from getting cold enough:
http://www.repairclinic.com/Refrigerator-Troubleshooting#Coolingispoor
It can be many things, since there are many operational parts working together, but I would check your condenser coils, and make sure the fan is running first, then troubleshoot the problem.
Good luck, hope this helps, and thanks for using FixYa.

The water dispenser on my GE fridge, model bss25jsrss, doesn't work. There is water in the lines, and the lights in the front work, but when I try to get water or ice nothing comes out.

There is a simple switch behind the push lever which activates the water/ice dispenser circuit. Sometimes these switches are poorly engineered to the lever with an adhesive or plastic rod which will break away. This is the first place I would look for a culprit.

GE fridge fan clicks, ice dispenser not working

Main control board problem . Pt # WR55X10656 . The freezer fan motor , works off DC voltage . The board is not giving it enough voltage . The main board , also controls the dispensor board .

GE GSS25QSTSS no lights working on the water and ice dispenser. No light working, no ice dispenses or water. Tried unpluggin no luck

I would remove the bottom kick panel ( 1 screw on each side ) and follow the wires to the receptical ( about 5 inches from bottom of door ) . Wiggle the receptical , to see if any of the dispensor lights come on . Also try pushing the wires into the receptical farther . If still no lights , then the main control board behind the refrig ( behind 8" X 10 " panel ) is probably bad . No communication between the main board and dispensor board . Part number WR55X10942 . I have yet to come across a bad dispensor board , so , replace the main board first . If the receptical process doesn't work .

Hotpoint fridge dispenser works on water but not ice

If the little green lites show up , you do not need a circuit board . If you get a hum or buzzing noise when pushing for CRUSHED ice , then the auger motor is frozen up . Remove the ice bin and use a hair dryer directly on the forks which turn the dispensor . The heat will transfer into the motor , defrosting the armature . Try closing the freezer door ocassionally and pushing the arm to test if forks turn .

GE Profile Artica - Water & ice dispensor not working.

This could be as simple as the door switch or as complex as the dispenser control board. I would try the door switch first. When the door is close it turns on the dispenser controls. If the contact is defective in the door/light switch then this happens. Unplug remove the door switch and mark wire locations. 1 Powers the lights and the other powers the dispenser. and one is the power itself. Sea Breeze

GE Fridge Not Dispensing water

First place to start is in the fridge. Look behind the crisper drawers for the water tank. It may have frozen at the outlet line. Try thawing it out with a hair dryer or a heat gun, being careful of course not to melt anything.
