To register an ocx file simply follow the simple steps below.

1.Locate the file using windows explorer or My Computer. Alternatively search for the filename.

2.Hold down the shift key and right click on the file. Then click 'Open With...' from the menu.

3.An 'Open With' dialog box should appear. Click the button 'Other...'.

4.Navigate to your windows\system32 directory and select the file 'RegSvr32.exe'. Do a file search for it if you have trouble locating the exact folder. On Windows 2000 it is typically located in c:\WINNT\System32. Click Open to select the file. Then click OK on the 'Open With' dialog.

5.You should see a message indicating the file was successfully registered. If you see an error message, try restarting your computer and going through the above process again.

My desktop suddenly popup this message:this program can't start because COMCTL 32 is missing from your computer.

I don't think I can attach the file you need in this reply, so I'll direct you to where you can download the file. Browse to: http://www.ocxdump.com/download-ocx-files_new.php/ocxfiles/C/COMCTL32.OCX/6.00.8105/download.html

and right click on Click Here to Download COMCTL32.OCX

in the Windows pop-up message (bottom of screen), choose "Save Target As" and save the file to your desktop. After download, close Browser and Copy to C:\System32

Click Start> In the search box, type: Run and press enter.

Type the following command to register the file:

regsvr32 \windows\system32\COMCTL32.OCX

You should see a message saying "DllRegisterServer ... succeeded

Everything should be OK after that. If not, reboot your PC.

Acer aspire 1 startup main 339: mscomctl.ocx missing or incomplete

Hello,

It seems that this file is corrupted or missing. What you can do is to manually replace this file. Follow the steps below to replace the file.

  1. Download the mscomctl.ocx file to your desktop (right-click on link and choose 'Save link as...')
  2. Then go to My Computer > C: > WINDOWS > SYSTEM folder to check if you have a previous version of the mscomctl.ocx file. If yes, just make a backup of it.
  3. Copy the downloaded file from the desktop and paste it in C: > WINDOWS > SYSTEM folder.
After replacing the file, you will need to register the newly downloaded file. To do, follow the simple following steps.

  1. Click on 'Start' button and click on 'Run'
  2. In the 'Open' line, type : regsvr32 \windows\system32\MSCOMCTL.OCX
This command will register the file you have downloaded and added to the SYSTEM folder. You should see a message saying "DllRegisterServer ... succeeded" if registration is OK.

Please note that you have to enter the command exactly as it appears above. (You may copy and paste it).

Htmlmarq.ocx unable to register in systems registry

Open regedit and browse to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options
You should see htmlmarq.ocx and htmlmm.ocx separate keys. Rename them to something else, ie. htmlmarq.tmp and htmlmm.tmp.
You will now be able to install Office 97, including the HTML option, without incident.

How to register ocx on vista

[Solution # 1]
Drag and drop it onto regsvr32.exe in Windows\system32 folder. Make a shortcut for regsvr32.exe in the same folder the OCX is in and drag and drop it that way

[Solution # 2] Just run cmd.exe as administrator and try again. This is the key.

Here, step by step:

1. find the folder of cmd: it is usually on C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
2. Do right click over cmd.exe and click on "run as Administrator"
3. now just use regsvr32.exe as you used to do!

For example, to register most Blackd Proxy ocxs, you might need to type this in "Administrator" cmd:

regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system32\richtx32.ocx
regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system32\comdlg32.ocx
regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system32\mswinsck.ocx
regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system32\msflxgrd.ocx
regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system32\msinet.ocx
regsvr32.exe C:\windows\system32\comctl32.ocx

A side result for Visual Basic 6.0 users: this seems to be the way to use components in Windows Vista properly. Just register the components of your proyect with "Administrator" cmd before adding them to your proyect (or before opening a proyect that already had such components)

[Solution # 3]
use this in command line

REGSVR32 /V then ur ocx or dll name
ex:
REGSVR32 /V CRPAIG32.DLL

[Solution # 4]
right-clicking the batch file and selecting
'run as administrator'.

Registered:
richtx32.ocx
comdlg32.ocx
mscomctl.ocx
dxtmeta2.dll

Good luck

Error with Vista

If you are using any other operating system than Vista please see this article: http://www.rebrandsoftware.com/admin/supportEdit.asp?article_id=53

This error indicates that a file is not correctly installed on your system. In some cases it may be correctly installed for all standard users but not for the "Administrator" account, and you may only see this error when selecting "Run as Administrator".

The built in Administrator account is not intended to be used as a user account. It is very secure and will not allow program components to be registered. Instead you should create an account with administrative rights, and use it instead of the built in Administrative account. This will help solve runtime error 339/429 on our software, and lots of other software that you may install in the future. If you do not want to create a standard user account (not recommended) you can follow the instructions below:

If the problem started suddenly then a reinstall may fix it. If not, follow the directions below to register each file that is producing the error. You generally will only have to repeat the instructions 3 or 4 times:

Click start
In the search box type "cmd" without the quotes
When CMD.exe appears above the search box right click it and select "Run As Administrator". This will open a command prompt with admin rights.
Repeat the following for each file that is causing this error, replacing [filename] with the actual name of the file that is causing problems:

-Type "regsvr32 [filename] /u" without the quotes
-You will receive a prompt saying the file has been unregistered. Click OK.
-Type "regsvr32 [filename]" (shortcut: press your UP ARROW and delete /u)
-You will receive a prompt saying the file has been successfully registered.
    .......................................................
    try this

    Go to Start
    click Run
type in cmd
press enter

type in the black screen

regsvr32 MSWINSCK.OCX

Press enter
it will come back the c: prompt
then
Restart your PC

Registering msdatlst.ocx and msdatrep.ocx in Vista

This may help to find the reason why msdatrep.ocx is not registering. Try http://www.dependencywalker.com/ download, run it and tell it to be associated with .ocx files too. Than you can right mouse click on msdatrep.ocx and say "View Dependencies" - any missing dlls will be in red. This may help to find the reason why regsvr32 is not working.
