Question about E-Machines Computers & Internet

Is there any way to set an EMachine back to the way it was when it was first purchased? I had an HP that I could do a recovery on and it would set it back to when I first pulled it out of the box. The EMachine I have, is used, and LOADED with viruses...I want to reset it and load a GOOD virus protector on it, but it won't let me passed the old virus protector, the easiest way to get it going again would be to reset it....any ideas from anyone?

I can open the menu, but the pop up box for the protector on it now, is in the way and I can't minimize it or x out of it, it won't let...it just sits, right there in the middle of the screen.....asking me over and over if I want to proceed without protection, I tell it yes, it just repeats it self re: a couple different virus' , if I click cancel, it does the exact same thing, it is sooooo aggravating. Your idea is actually what I was first trying to do, but I can't get to it....ugh. Thank you for your help, though....

tried that, it won't do it....a box pops up for a split second and says it is turned off, do I want to turn it on...yes or no. I try to click yes, but it disappears so fast you can't...it's awful! I had to keep clicking on restore option to be able to read it......which took about 50 times because it pops up and disappears so dang fast...

Are you able to open the start menu, control panel, programs, uninstall old virus program? If you can at least get that accomplished, you should be able to install the new virus protection and hopefully do a scan too.G00D lUcK!

You could also try just inserting an antivirus disc.It may force the program to appear and start or if that also only gives seconds, you can see where the box for starting it appears and keep clicking.

Step 1:
Which operating system ?

Use an external memory device such as a DVD, flash drive or external hard drive to back up the data you need to save from your eMachines computer. Any data that isn't saved to an external source will be erased when the computer is restored to factory settings. Remove any discs that are in the optical drive and unplug the computer's peripheral devices, such as an Ethernet cable or scanner. Do not disconnect the keyboard, mouse or monitor. Click the Windows "Start" menu and choose "All Programs." Navigate to "eMachines" and choose "eMachines Recovery Management." Click the "Restore" tab. Click "Password Settings" if you have not already set a recovery password. Type a new password in the text box and click "OK." Click "Restore System to Factory Default." Type the recovery password and click "OK." Click "Next" to wipe the eMachines computer's hard drive and begin the recovery process. Select "Finish" and wait for the eMachines computer to restart. Use the series of installation prompts that appear on the screen to create a new user account for your operating system, set the system date and time, and set up your Internet settings.

I have emachines model W3650 and want to know how to set back to factory setting.

(1) Go to start menu(2) Click on all programs(3) click on Emachine(4) click on Emachine recovery management(5) Click on restore on the bar across the top(6) click on restore to system factory default
Some emachines can be restored by pressing ALT+F10, but not sure on your model. Give it a try if you can't restore it to factory defaults using Emachine recovery management.

How to put the recovery partition back on the emachines t5048

As far as i know the only way is to run the restore disk from emachine that is for your model computer. (it usually wipes the computers hard disk in the process.)

the link below will take you to their support site for drivers.

on that site look for eMachines Recovery Media Purchase Program and you can see about ordering the recovery disk that you need.

How do I factory restore an Emachine w3609?

Hi there.
If there is no option to press F11 as the computer starts then you are going to have to purchase a recovery disk for that machine or purchase a Windows installation disk to fully reset it to factory

Factory.settings

Hi,

According to what you have said, you might have created the Recovery disks after purchasing the notebook. Now you are trying to restore the notebook to factory settings, but they are not working.

Even you have tried to F11 options to restore notebook using the Recovery partition of your notebook.

Let me assist you in this regard.

If the recovery disks are not booting, then we have to check if the issue is with the disks or with the CD/DVD drive itself.

To check that, you need to try to boot with any other OS CD. If the notebook is booting with other OS disks, then the issue is with the Recovery disks itself.

Even F11 option is not working, you have to make sure that D: Recovery is not removed.

For your information, if the issue is with the Recovery disks, then you can purchase the Recovery disks from Hp at very low price.

You can order them from the below link:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=500508

Under
CD-ROM order page - Recovery Discs you can order the place order for Recovery disks.

Emachine failure. no recovery disc.

just go to www.newegg.com and purchase an OEM copy of Windows XP for 99 bucks. thats your best bet. Or you may have a recovery partition on that desktop...if you press f11 when you turn it on it may let you recover from that. good luck
