This problem could also be caused by one of two problems. First of all, the calculator's battery contacts should be cleaned with a qtip and isopropyl alcohol. If that doesn't help, the on/off switch or copper contacts could be slightly worn or oxidized, if left setting for periods of time. It's possible to take it apart, and spray the contacts with electrical contact cleaner.
Aside from that, the unit will have to be methodically troubleshot, which is beyond most consumer's capabilities.
As a last thought, if you google TI-84 won't turn on" you will get more blogs to read, which might work.
Good luck, hope this helps, and thanks for using FixYa.

Could be the screen has been dimmed so much that you can't tell that it's coming on. Press on and then 2nd button and the up arrow key. You may need to keep pressing 2nd and up arrow key. This is how you darken the screen. You can also lighten the screen which may be the problem you have by pressing 2nd and then the down arrow key. This is how the contrast is controlled on your calculator

If this doesn't work, take out the internal battery that is located in a tiny door with a screw right above the 4 AAA batteries. Leave this out for about 8 hours and put it back in. Put in the AAA batteries and the calculator will be reset and may work.

You may need to reset calculator. Take ou the batteries and the backup battery. Leave them out for about 8 hours. Then put everything back in. Hopefully this will work.

I have a TI 84 plus silver edition. Won't turn

The problem may be due a screen that is too light to see anything on it. Adjust the screen darkness.
  1. Press [2nd] key and release it.
  2. Press and HOLD the [UpArrow] to draken screen.
  3. Release the [UpArrow] when screen is dark enough.
You can also connect it to the computer to see if TI Connect finds it. If it does, update the OS to version 2.53MP.

You change the backup battery if the calculator tells you RAM CLEARED each time you turn it ON.
