Due largely to the electrical wiring, vacuum hoses are very difficulty to repair. If the hose is flattened/damaged, the wiring may have been damaged and construes a shock hazard at the least. Trying to repair the hose increases the possibility of wiring damage.
However, you can try getting a lenth of PVC or similar pipe that is a slightly smaller diameter than the hose. Insert one end into the canister end of hose and gently push it to the flattened area. Slowly and gently use it to work the flattened area out.
I don't know if this will work, but it's worth a try. If it doesn't, a new hose is needed.

My shop-vac stopped mid-job with no warning

Maybe it over heated or the hose was jammed. Unplug it for a few minutes, check the hose for any stuck debris, then plug it back in. Shop vacs also come with a filter. If the filter is too dirty, it might have shut off as a safety precaution to not cause a fire. Follow directions to clean the filter. Hope this helped. Dee

I was using it with out wand attached to it and the tube started to go flat and tight. The sound changed too, like the canister was full, but it wasn't. What should I try?

Sounds like it took in something that clogged the hose. The obstructon will be located at the point where the hose begins contracting (flattening).

I believe I've just had the same problem and after searching for a small gray horsehoe clip that needs to first be found and then inserted into the slot for it on the tube section that comes out of the beater bar. Insert this clip from the outside after placing the hose attachment over the tube. Once figured out it is an easy fix.

Most likely your vent for the suction container is plugged or the suction hose can of or is broken at the connection to the tank nozzle (very common on these. Clean the machine thoroughly, and check that all hoses are tight and connected.

Bag was full, changed it, the unit now turns off

Try dialing the control valve to the mid way position. If the unit still shuts down with the bag full light on you have a damaged control valve under the dial on the top of the vac.
This valve failure is common in this model and can only be repaired by someone with original AERUS Electrolux repair parts, generally at an AERUS repair shop.

The vacuum cord hose is able to **** up the dirt but the actual vacuum where the belt is does not work

sounds like you have a plug in your "duct hose" Remove the hose from the lower hose it hooks in and take a look inside. If you release the handle release lever and flatten the machine, hold it up and you should see light through it to the roller. If you don't, then you have a blockage. clear the blockage, and you will back in vacuum business! Let me know if this helps!

Vacuum is not sucking. It is just over a year old.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
It sounds like you have a clogged hose or a full bag, or dirty filter. The best way to check your electric hose id to run a marble or steel ball thru the hose and if it goes thru all the way then check the bag and filter, most times it is the vacuum hose. If it id the hose you can try to pull apart the clog from both ends using another central or canister vacuum. If not and the ball stops mid way thru the hose then you can use a broom handle with a round hook on the end so that it does not puncture the hose is any place and the round hook can loosen or break up your clog and then your suction will return, if you poke a hole in the vacuum hose there are repair kits that go on the outside of the hose that will slide over the hose and then you use a heat gun and shrink the hose repair kit down to size therefore plugging the leak. (Hose repair kit). So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
