Good day,
The timer will not advance if the heat fails. That's normal.
The most common items to fail are the heating element and a small thermal fuse both of which are located on the back of the machine.
You'll need a VOM meter to check both. The thermal should check out at zero ohms. The leads to the heating element which is located in a canister on the right side should read less then 35 ohms.
The Thermal fuse looks like this.

It's usually one of the 2 but there are other limit tstats in that area that you might want to check.
Here's link on changing the element.

Make sure you have 230 volts to the machine as well.

My Roper Electric Dryer is not blowing hot air plus the timer is not moving. What could be causing this?

timer motor(wires burnt or contacts) located in the upper back of dryer. here is a website that tells how to test, it is on the bottom of the list. Good luck Tim:

Model WED5300SQ0 not heating and timer not working

Well with moving it around and all it could have any number of things happened. If it wont tumble, no lights, no heat or anything check that the plug has 240volts to it. then check the wiring going into the dryer may have broke wires or anything like that. but I would check the plug first if it has no power what so ever. If you check the plug and it doesn't have power check the breaker to see if it is tripped.

Timer wont advance will not heat

you either have a tripped curcuit breaker or your heating element is blown. If the timer cannot sense that the heater is in the curcuit it will not advance check your curcuit breaker first. flip it on and then off and let me know if you have heat
