Question about Roper REX4634KQ Electric Dryer
The timer will not advance if the heat fails. That's normal.
The most common items to fail are the heating element and a small thermal fuse both of which are located on the back of the machine.
You'll need a VOM meter to check both. The thermal should check out at zero ohms. The leads to the heating element which is located in a canister on the right side should read less then 35 ohms.
The Thermal fuse looks like this.
It's usually one of the 2 but there are other limit tstats in that area that you might want to check.

Make sure you have 230 volts to the machine as well.

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.
