Have you picked a stitch? Always turn wheel toward you never away from you or else you will mess up the timing. Call Singer at 1-800-4singer and ask them

I had the same problem with my singer 3116 simple and it turned out that the bobbin winding post was just moved to the bobbin winding position. I just needed to move it to the left! I was freaking out but that solved my problem...hope it can help you, too.

Singer Touch-tronic 2000 makes loud humming/buzzing noise, stitch selector lights quit working, needle bar stopped moving.

Sounds like you've got a thread jam going on in the bobbin case area. Good cleaning and a new needle will probably fix it. See: https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091202121550AAHxN8y

When I wind a bobbin, it makes a screeching noise and the needle goes up and down. What step am I missing ?

On the right side is a big wheel and in the middle a smaller one. You need to unlock the smaller wheel so that the needle mechanism does not run when re-winding a bobbin. You need to use both hands to do it. Hold the bigger wheel and then loosen the inner wheel anti clock wise. Once you have finished loading your bobbin you need to tighten the inner wheel again for the machine to be fully functional again.

I have a Simplicity model 640 and it turns like it is supposed to go but wont move. Just makes noise. It was my grandmothers and I inherited it so I'm not too sure what to do?

Try turn your hand wheel with your hand and if the rotary hook is not responding, the upright gear has worn out/timing belt is loose.
