I have a new epson 3800 - says there is no maintenance cart. - removed and replace it and still won't recognize it. Has locked all other functions. Any ideas? thanks

Try this. Insert only 5 only ink tank, without LM. See status monitor. All 5 ink status look gray? and LM look cross. Try to another ink tank left. Last, insert all ink tank. All ink tank not recognized (cross sign)? If yes, the problem probably is epprom.

Hmm it sounds like the sensor itself did malfunction or get damaged, even though you clearly say you didn't touch the contacts. I am researching further but as far as I can tell it does not look like there is an over-ride for that error. If there is, it's proprietary Epson information they don't want getting out there. Have you tried calling Epson to see if they can give you some more detail on a possible solution? It is possible that the new maintenance cartridge is defective or the sensor on it is not functioning properly. Before trying another new one however I'd check with Epson.

here is what i did and it worked: turn on/off printer (i did it quickly) and hold down the delete (trash can) button and up arrow (the same button to lift the cover) and the error message went away. then you can hold down the up arrow and it will release. i also tried to open remove and put back the waste ink on the side of the printer.

Hi there,
If you've replaced them in the past using the same ink there's a slight possibility that you have received bad cartridges. Have you tried or would you be able to swap the cartridges you have now with other cartridges just to make sure that it is not the problem.
