Installed new cartriges and now it says they are missing or not detected

Hi,

There can be several reasons to get this error on the printer screen. They are

1. One or more Cartridge install by date has expired or the printer has detected that either one of the cartridge expiry date has passed by ( current date ).
2. This can also be result of defective cartridge
( though cartridge is new ) or in few occasions the printer hardware failure too.

These are the steps you can try to fix this issue :

1. Open the front access door where you find all the cartridges installed
2. Remove all the cartridges and clean the electrical contacts/golden contacts you find on the cartridge and also inside the printer cartridge slot
3. Check for Date on the cartridge, If any cartridge has date less than current date, you can try replacing the cartridge.
4. After cleaning the cartridge contacts, install the cartridges back into the printer and close the door and wait for the printer to go through initialization process.


Please let us know the printer model if the above steps did not resolve the issue.

Black Cartrige Missing


Did you use a brandname ink cartridge - or is it a knock-off brand? If it is a brand name - then the cartridge is most likely defective. If it is a knock-off brand - some printers do not recognize the electronic in the cartridge and therefore don't see it as one being installed.

At a guess you've bought a compatible generic cartrige. I had a similar problem different printer.

I had to by a genuine cartrige, worked fine. Contacted the generic cartrige provider, explained the problem. Returned cartriges and got refund no problem.

It looks like the generic cartrige makers are seeing some solutions to chipped cartridges but not all.

The message you are getting may be due to the following reasons :

1) Cause : One or more ink cartridges missing.
Solution : Remove and reinsert the ink cartriges and verify that they are fully inserted and locked in place.

2) Cause : One or more of the ink cartriges are not installed or are installed incorrectly.
Solution : Remove and reinsert the ink cartriges and verify that they are fully inserted and locked in place. If the problem persists, clean the copper-colored contacts of the ink cartriges.

Just had my color cartridge refilled, and reinstalled correctly. However, the printer will not print with the color cartridge in, but will print with the black cartridge only.


your newly installed cartrige which is the colored one is not detected or mybe damage....may i ask if how many times did you refill already your cartrige?refilling a cartrige can cause damage to its circuit i suggest purchase a new colored cartrige and see if it works.

I installed new cartridges and I'm still getting a message. "cartridges replacement required" It's a Lexmark X2650 printer


did you put in new cartridge or refill the old? If you bought new ones you could have gotten one with a bad chip. I would take it back and exchange it for a different.

Brand new Print cartriges not being detected...


If 350 & 351 are the original cartridge, you can ask to the cartridge seller for a guarantee. There is a chip inside the cartridge, sometimes the printer firmware failed to detect the chips. Or you can try to find, by Googling "C4272 Resetter Software" to download it.

Refilled printer cartridge


Sorry if you do not like this answer, but it is the truth.

Lexmark does not support the use of OEM or third party cartrideges.

Lexmark, considers this to be product tampering and will void the printer's warranty.
