Question about Infinity 475A Car Audio Amplifier

1 Answer

Accidentally got the power and ground connections reversed on an Infinity 475a. Fuses on the amp blew. I corrected the problem, replaced the fuses, and reconnected the battery. Now the fuses on the amp blow as soon as I hook up the battery. Is the amp toast?

I would try it, if you haven't already, without any outputs (Speakers) hooked up, just the amp and the power...if the fuse goes again, it has an internal problem.

Reverse polarity hook up blew fuse link. Where can i get the correct fuse link to solder into the stanley inverter pc809 800watt?

Hmmmmm, well that`s unfortunate , i can tell you that most electronic devices that connect to low voltage DC supply's are protected bye a protection diode and the fuse link you think it might be is a circuit trace internal.
an 800 watt innverter draws about 80 to 100 amp to produce the 800 watt output and you must have 2 40 amp fuses or 3 30 amp fuses customer replaceable, if you did not damage the components in your device all you kneed to do is to repair the circuit trace and replace the reverse polarity protection diode to restore normal operation

there are no fuse links internal to inverter power supply's

best regards Falco

Amp blows fuses

Are you using the correct fuse? if so,
more then likely, you don't have a good ground. Try grounding to something else that has more direct connection to your frame. If that doesnt work, try getting larger power cables.
I had the same problem with my 2500w xplodes all I had to do was get a thicker cable for the ground and battery connection. What was happening, was it was needing more power then the wire and fuse could handle, so it would blow the fuse, since the higher you have it, the more power it needs to feed the watts.
I would try grounding it directly to the frame on a good part of the frame before spending another $70 on new power cables though.

I just bought a 98 concorde lxi and no sound coming out of the speakers, radio comes on and shows channels just no sounds

Hello georgouseyes,

The problem could be in the output from your receiver to the amp or in the amp itself.

First check to see if the amp powers up. If it doesn't, check the main power fuse (usually located under the hood near the battery). Also check the power and ground connections on both ends.

If the main fuse checks OK, check both onboard fuses. There's 2 35A fuses on the far right.

If the amp powers up OK and the onboard fuses are not defective, it's possibly the output from your receiver or line output converter. Replace the RCA cables with a known good pair. If there's still no sound, I'd suspect that the amp itself is defective.

Hope this helps.

I installed a 475a to my door speakers and when i turn the power up on the amp my speakers make loud popping noise any idea on wat it could be

You blew the speakers. The speakers were probably not made for that much power and the voice coil blew. If they were stock speakers, then they are defenetly blown. Stock speakers are not made for much power at all, and will more than likely blow with any extra power given to them at all.

Protect mode on 475a

Yes if your wires are to small they dont supply enough power to the amp and it will shut down..Also the ground..Check all connections for tightness and that none of the wires are touching or grounding out...Hope this helps you and have a great day
