IT IS NOW REMOVED...

I CALLED THE SONY PEOPLE AND A REP WENT INTO MY COMPUTER AND REMOVED THE OLD NORTON FOR ME AND NOW I CANT DOWNLOAND THE VERSOIN ON BOUGHT ONLINE FOR THE REP DELETED IF OFF MY COMPUTER( HE DELETED ALL NOTON FILLS TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE) AND I CANT FIND OUT HOW TO RE-DOWNLOAD THE NEWLY BOUGHT SOFTWARE OFF THE WEBSITE.

CAN YOU HELP ME? THANK YOU.

I've been through this (unfortunately). You have to call Norton (Symantec) customer service. Do you have the receipt they e-mailed you? If not, did you use a credit card? They can definitely look it up via the receipt, and probably by the cc number.
They're really a pain in the **** about it, but sometimes you get a nice customer service person who will make it relatively easy. No matter what - YOU ALREADY PAID FOR IT! Don't let them try and bully you into buying anything else. You absolutely have a right to re-download the software and get whatever authorization stuff (key, code, etc.) you need.

My old computer is no longer in use and went out and brought this computer lost all my data from old computer. HOW DO I install my Norton account on this one. I have tried but could not install it.


Hello Betty, In order to change your norton subscription from one account to another, you need to transfer your license to your new device. You can do so by following the instructions at this URL: How to transfer your license to new device

Let me know if you run into issues, I have gone through this before on another account, however I found the process pretty simple.

If the issue is with installing norton itself, post the error you receive and we can look into why it shows that way.

Uninstall norton


Download the Norton Cleanup Utility

2nd Solution is to Start your PC in SAFE MODE and try to uninstall it.
When your PC is booting - simultaneously Press the F8 Button till you get Boot option to Select SAFE MODE.

3rd Solution is Download the Revo Uninstaller and try to uninstall it ( Pro Version )

Nortons automaticly updated my nortons antivirus without my knowledge. I didn't realize I had the automatic update turned on. I have another antivirus installed on my computer. Please remove this update...


you would have to call nortons customer service yourself and tell then you want your money back and tell them what happened a random stranger cant do that but depending on how long you have been using the norton, they might say no

I bought a new computer and got rid of the old one and i just renewed my order and would like to transfer norton onto the new one, please help.


The easiest way to transfer your Norton License from your old computer to new is by registering for a Norton account at https://www.mynortonaccount.com. This will let you re-activate your Norton on the new laptop, plus allow you to download latest updated version of your current Norton software. Computer said norton virus had expired then computer went into hibernation and now will not restart


Try to restart the computer in safe mode or safe mode with networking. Go to control panel, add or remove programs (or programs and features if its vista), and try to remove norton antivirus completely. If that does not work, and you are in safe mode with networking, download the norton removal tool from the internet and run that to remove the norton antivirus completely. Your computer should be able to boot to the normal window, you can downlaod the norton antivirus latest version from the norton website or purchase the norton antivirus disc from any store. All the best.

Please completley remove the norton security from my computer...trying to run something comcst says you need to do something to rmove it...please do asap ...thank you


Go into Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs. Wait for the list of all programs to load up.

Go down through the list and look for Norton Internet Security. Remove it. It will take a very long time, sometimes 1/2 hour or more depending on speed of computer. Reboot the computer after it has been removed, especially if/when it asks you to reboot after the process.

After rebooting, go back into Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Look for Symantec or Norton's Live Update, remove that as well. Also remove any other Symantec/Norton Anti-Virus or Internet Security programs as well. Then reboot the computer again.

Your computer should be much, much faster now. So now you need a new Anti-Virus program...

I've found in my experience that Norton and McAfee do more damage to some computers than good, besides the fact that they are severely over-priced. I would NEVER install either Norton (Symantec) or McAfee on anyone's computer. Matter of fact, I just had to remove Norton 2008 from a lady's computer today, an old Dell 2400 because her system was too old and slow to run new Norton.

My suggestions for much better anti-virus would be...

- Kaspersky Anti-Virus (search for it on Google, etc)

- Trend Micro PC-Cillin Anti-Virus (search for it on Google, etc)

- AVG Free Anti-Virus at http://free.grisoft.com, they also have more elaborate versions with more protection for a cost.

I personally use AVG on my computers, and my family does as well. It's very effective and gets out viruses that even Norton cannot remove.
