For a Penn GTO 220, pls check this page an exploded view of the GTO220 that details parts and their placement. It is a PDF file and would need Abobe Acrobat Reader to view and print.

For the most part I use Marvel Mystery Oil on all my reels and have done so for many years.Some spray lubes like Rem-Oil are very good as well.Some guys use vaseline but that requires dis-assembly and cleaning.Good Luck and Good Fishing

alright man......i had the same problem. it just takes a little bit of elbow grease, bot it does twist open, it's just harder than hell to get it to twist off. I took a towel and laid it over the reel, and lightly tapped on it with a hammer to loosen it up a bit.

try switching sides of the handle by holding the bell and reeling then screw it in on the other side of the real by just reeling in. If that doesn't work then take all the line out and reel in some new line the opposite way.
