I bought a new Acer notebook.Verizon just hooked me up to their DSL high speed internet. I don't know much about computers and find that when I go to my Yahoo e-mail account I am unable to open my mail after clicking on each e-mail message. Can you advise me?

it shouldn't be asking for an ISP as most dsl modems even though they are PPPOE by nature, DSL providers have removed the necessity to add all the information to the configuration. I recommend removing all connections already present in the machine, not the adapters or anything physical just remove all known connections. don't run any kind of internet set up wizard because you don't need it. just connect the device to the router/modem. if you connect directly to the modem you'll need to reset it after connecting the new machine. If internet explorer/firefox/chrome are being used make sure you double check proxy settings and turn them off. this is listed under tools in the browsers. I would also make sure both the wireless and wired connections have been set up to 'automatically receive an IP (dhcp) and that no info has been pre-added to the configuration. set everything to be automatic and reset your modem and you should be good to go.
what do you mean by hook it up? Do you mean internet service?
All new laptops have Wi-Fi capabilities, but you must be in range of a free service. In order to get dedicated service, you will need to either purchase an aircard from a provider such as sprint, verizon,AT&T, or get hooked up through your local phone company(DSL), or cable service- they will provide you with the modem.
Oopen Internet Explorer. Click on tool >> Internet options. In the internet option window click on the Advanced tab and look for the option "ENABLE THIRD PARTY BROWSER EXTENSIONS". Uncheck the option and hit Apply and OK. Close all Internet Explorer windows and check the speed of Internet Explorer.
