Go_n,
First gather your needed items: screwdriver and a helper.

The screen is mounted to the enclosure of the TV by hanging on tabs mounted on the enclosure inside behind the screen. The screen simply lifts off after removing it's set screws at the bottom of the screen behind the big plastic piece that is below the entire screen.

1) Remove the speaker covers (grills).
2) Locate and remove the screws that hold the plastic piece onto the enclosure (8-12).
3) Remove the plastic cover and you will see the set screws holding the screen.
4) Remove the screws (2-4).
5) Use your helper as your screen is really big for most average sized people and lift the screen including the plastic bezel up and away from the enclosure.

Ensure that you have a secure area to set the screen as it will be large, heavy but yet very delicate. Also, do not clean anything unless you know for sure that you need to as sometimes just by touching things they get misaligned or break. This means but is not limited to: mirror, lenses & the screen.

When reinstalling the screen ensure that you hang the screen back onto all of the tabs or the picture will be blurry.

Good Luck!

We need to clean our Sony KP-53N77. We have some spider webs inside the protective screen and our color is a little fuzzy. We have never had the mirrors cleaned. How do we access the areas to clean and...

Remove the back hardboard cover by removing all the screws and lifting the cover up and toward you.

Mirror will be above but usually doesnt get dusty. Try not to touch it if you can. Same with back of screen. If you have a spider web just use a soft dry cloth to wipe it away.

You will likely find the upward facing lamp lenses covered in dust. Clean these with a soft cloth moistened with glasses cleaning solution. Glass cleaner works too.

Cleaning webs from inside screen

There are two ways to do this---the hard way which is to remove the entire front screen OR

What I do is (with the set unplugged) remove the back cover of the set; you should see the three large black lens.

Most of these sets there will be enough room to get a swiffer duster up inside to gently catch and remove all the spider webs. If there is not enough room let me know and I will tell you how to remove the front screen.

Also---if you can see those large black lens---clean the dust off of them with a lens cloth or paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on the towel.

If you can reach the webs from the back do not exert pressure when you wipe the inside of the screens---easy to scratch them.

If you have questions let me know BEFORE you attempt this.

If this helped or told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

There is a spider running around the insider of my TV!

Well you can allways wait until she drops dead but otherwise youll have to take the front lenses off.Remove the screws along the edge a the top and sides at the rear you may also have to pull the front cover (usually plugged in) this is best done with two persons ,one to unscrew and the other to hold the lenses.once the screws are remove you may have to slide up the ***`y.you may want to clean the lenses and miror while your at it. have fun

How do I dust inside the screen of a Rear projection TV?

Unplug tv first Usually you can pop the front screen off the set. There may be two hidden catches depending on the model. You may want to use two people for this. Once the screen is off removed the spider web and clean the back mirror with some windex, don't clean the inside of screen with any cleaner. Replace carefully the screen making sure it clicks back correctly

Hitachi 51UWX20B spider web like lines help

I know my response is a while after you asked, but to clean the inside of the tv case is pretty simple.

Remove the bottom speaker cover...on this model you just pull it off. There is no clips or screws.

Once the speaker cover is off you will see the bottom of the screen, there is 4-5 screws on the bottom on each side....I think 4 in the gray plastic and 1 in a black metal strap. With all of those screws out pull out SLIGHTLY on the screen and push up. The top is held in with a down force clamp and you are just popping it out of that....It will pop back in once you are done.

Now clean the back side of the screen, the mirror and CAREFULLY dust off the lenses. I myself did not want to use any cleaners (to avoid streaking) so I used a new microfiber dusting cloth. My picture became brighter and the "crack" that I thought I had was just a dust web....

Hope this helps and good luck

Spider web inside tv

You need to open and clean it carefully.
  1. remove the back bottom panel
  2. Remove the top back panel (carefully the mirror is on it)
  3. Clean the mirror and the lenses (on the mirror don't use products with ammoniac) "a good tip is to use same staff to clean photographic cameras"
  4. Place back the top rear panel
  5. place back the bottom rear panel

well . there are 4 things that can cause this..
1= the outer screens could be dirty.clean with screen protector cleaner.Spray on cloth and not on outer screens.
2= outside lenses of picture tubes could be dirty.Unit can be opened .Outside lenses can be cleaned with a lens cloth .Do not use paper towels or cotton as this my scratch surfaces of lenses.
3= inside of picture tubes could be dirty. This should be done by a repair shop only(dirty coolant inside tubes)

Appears that lint is on one of the lenses

this could be a contaminant inside one of the lenses, or possibly spider webs inside the tv.. This is a very common problem. Remove the back of the tv, you will be able to look around the back of the screen with a flashlight and see if there are any spiderwebs. at this time you should also clean your lenses and mirror with some glass cleaner . this will improve your picture as well.

Spider on screen

You must remove the top back cover, but be careful and handle it gently because the mirror is attached to the inside of that cover. When the cover is removed you will be able to clear out any spiders, spiderwebs and dust and be sure to clean the 3 lenses on top of the 3 picture tubes.
