How to download pictures from camera to laptop

before you can download pictures, you should install the software that came with the camera. On the CD are not only drivers for all known operating systems, but also the software, needed for the computer ro recognise the camera and to stream the pictures to the computer.
If you don'e have a CD anymore, try the website from the firm where the camera came from. Or use software like lightroom, gimp or Flickr

Importing pictures

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

I have to download my digital camera photos on laptop so i can get them on my digital photo picture book.

If you cannot connect your camera with a USB cable to the laptop, then there is another method.
Purchase a USB memory card reader, remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into the memory card reader and connect it to the USB port on the laptop. The laptop will see this as an external memory device, open this memory device and copy the picture files to the laptop. You can now transfer these picture to your picture book.
