Question about Lexmark X7170 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Error 1203 means that there is no cartridge attached to the printer head. However, there are some cases when this error message appears because the cartridge is not attached properly to the printer. If this happens, the printer will not be able to identify the presence of the cartridge and thus encounter an error. get more help for error 1203

Remove both ink cartridges and check the bottoms to be sure all of the tap is removed. Small pieces of tape frequently are stuck to the cartridge bottom causing errors. Confirm you have the correct cartridges (# 34 for Black(HIGHYIELD) and #33 for color). Reseat the cartridges and try again.

Normi, The 1203 error as you suspected deals with the ink cartridge. This is a common problem and Lexmark has a troubleshooting procedure posted on their web site. These steps are for a Lexmark 4200, but I suspect they will work for your printer as well:
Cartridge Error: 1203
Your print cartridge has a short.
1. Press Power to turn your All-In-One off.
2. Unplug your All-In-One from the wall outlet.
3. Plug in your All-In-One.
4. Reinstall the cartridges.
If this does not resolve the problem, see More troubleshooting options, or replace your cartridges.

It is a hardware printing problem . Try to clean contacts in printers in cartridge holder by alcogol and elastic rubber. it may become dirty an poor contact. after this you can try this:
Put some layers of the sticky tape on cartridge to improove force of contact.
