I have adobi photoshop 7 installed on my C drive, it has worked perfectly upto a few weeks ago, when it started freezing when asked to open a new file or when I try to use any of the pallete tools, it greys out and I have to ctr alt del to get out. I tried downloading an ADOBI update from their site, this was ok but it would not install as it said it could not find Adobi 7! I can see all the files sitting on the C/ drive. What makes this hard is that this is installed on my laptop in uk and my disc is in France.Have you any solution?

Photoshop must be reinstalled because somehow the data in the program files became corrupted, either through a virus, bad update or an accidental deletion. If you can get the disk, you should make a backup disc and also on your hard drive. There are other ways of acquiring Photoshop but may not be in your moral interest.

Hi,
Looks like one of the 2gb mem card you bought and installed is defective.
Check each one and clean the gold terminals using a pencil rubber eraer, clean it an install it again, move it to side to side just to perfectly fit the contacts.
If both mem card is working the problem would be the memory socket terminal, either it is dirty or the pin connector is burned.
If one is not working, return the mem card and have them replace it.

Hope FixYa helps you out!

Tip

10 reasons why PCs crash-You must know tip 4

4 Hard disk drives

After a few weeks, the information on a hard disk drive starts to become piecemeal or fragmented. It is a good idea to defragment the hard disk every week or so, to prevent the disk from causing a screen freeze. Go to

* Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-Disk Defragmenter

This will start the procedure. You will be unable to write data to the hard drive (to save it) while the disk is defragmenting, so it is a good idea to schedule the procedure for a period of inactivity using the Task Scheduler.

The Task Scheduler should be one of the small icons on the bottom right of the Windows opening page (the desktop).

Some lockups and screen freezes caused by hard disk problems can be solved by reducing the read-ahead optimisation. This can be adjusted by going to

* Start-Settings-Control Panel-System Icon-Performance-File System-Hard Disk.

Hard disks will slow down and crash if they are too full. Do some housekeeping on your hard drive every few months and free some space on it. Open the Windows folder on the C drive and find the Temporary Internet Files folder. Deleting the contents (not the folder) can free a lot of space.

Empty the Recycle Bin every week to free more space. Hard disk drives should be scanned every week for errors or bad sectors. Go to

* Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-ScanDisk

Otherwise assign the Task Scheduler to perform this operation at night when the computer is not in use.

Install Windows From Usb Drive

Windows 7 can run on machines with lower specs than required for Windows Vista, and many users are actually finding it runs better than Windows XP on lower spec machines. It’s also ideal to run on newer netbook machines, but unfortunately many of these do not include a DVD drive so how do you install windows 7 on a machine without a DVD drive?
I spent yesterday researching this exact problem and I managed to install Windows 7 on my LG X110 netbook in around 20 minutes using a 4GB USB Drive. Setting up the USB drive to install Windows 7 was fairly easy in the end, and the installation was quicker than a DVD drive, so this method is perfect if you want to install Windows 7 quickly on several machines.
How To Install Windows 7 From A USB Drive
  1. Find a standard 4GB USB Drive and plug it into your machine
  2. Click Start in your enter ‘cmd’ in the run field. Once cmd is open type in ‘diskpart’ and a new window will open
  3. In the new diskpart window type:
  • ‘list disk’ : This lists all the disk drives attached to your machine
  • Look for your USB drive and note the number and then type: ’select disk #’, where ‘#’ is your USB disk number
  • then type ‘clean’
  • then type ‘create partition primary’
  • then ’select partition 1′
  • then ‘active’
  • then ‘format fs=fat32 quick’

Once you’ve finished these steps you then need to copy your Windows 7 files to the USB. To do this you have to mount your Windows 7 ISO as a virtual DVD. Doing this is easy:
  1. Install MagicDisk (free)
  2. once installed, right-click on MagicDisk in your system tray click on ‘Virtual CD/DVD-Rom’, select your DVD drive
  3. then ‘Mount’ and in the dialog window that opens up, select your Windows 7 ISO
  4. Now in windows Explorer, click on your DVD drive and you should see all the Windows 7 Files. All you have to do now is copy and paste all the files to your USB key and you have a Windows 7 USB Installation Stick!
  5. Install the stick in the PC you want to install Windows 7 on and boot up. Remember to change your bios to allow booting from USB
If you follow the steps above then you should have no problems installing Windows 7 from a USB key

Honestly, it could be almost anything. It takes a few software tests in order to see if it is in fact hardware related.

I would recommend some tests.

www.malwarebytes.org
www.superantispyware.com

And although it's not free, PC Toolses, pop out the memory and make sure it's set right etc.s Registry Mechanic

Chances are this could fix a variety of things.

More than likely hardware related but if you upgraded to Win 7 without formatting, something could still exist on the hard drive causing this.

If all else fails, open the ca

sounds like you have issues with your hard drive.  go to start>run.
type this in without the " "
"cmd", hit ok.  a black screen pops up.  type "cd.." and hit enter.  type in "cd.." and hit enter again.  type "chkdsk c: /f /r".  It will say the drive can not be checked, it is in use.  hit "y" to schedule a check at boot up.  type"exit" and reboot your computer.  let me know if this helps.
