Question about Saniflo & Saniplus& Macerator Pump

1 Answer

I have a saniplus toilet, the macerating unit runs about every 2 minutes for 1-2 seconds at a time. I'ver replaced the flapper and even turned off the water to the unit and stopped using it, but it keeps cycling about every 2 minutes. What's wrong?

Water pressure makes the unit kick on and off. Water could be leaking from the toilet tank into the bowl and from bowl into the pump. Or the check valve inside the discharge elbow (on top of the lid) may not be sitting properly or is being obstructed causing waste water to leak inside the pump, creating enough water pressure to make the unit kick on and off by itself.

The toilet keeps flushing on its own - every few minutes. What can I do?

Water pressure makes the unit kick on and off, definitely somehow water is draining back into the pump casing creating enough water pressure that it makes the unit kick on and off by itself. You need to inspect the flapper on the flush valve inside the toilet tank (water closet) make sure is closing all the way down or it may need to be replaced. Also you may want to inspect the check valve inside the discharge elbow, the check valve has a flapper that opens towards the back of the elbow and allows the waste to be pumped out; when the unit stops pumping the flapper closes back down to prevent waste water from draining back into the pump. The check valve may be defective or may be obstructed and closing all the way down as it should. You may just have to clean it, it may be as simple as that.

System works perfect however the pump now has started turning on every 10 or 12 min and runs for about 2 seconds then shuts off

This means that water is draining back into the pump, creating enough water pressure that is making the pump kick on and off at all times. You need to inspect the check valve inside the discharge elbow where the waste is being pumped out, the check valve may be obstructed or may need to be replaced. Also check the flapper on the flush valve inside the toilet tank (water closet) the flapper may not be sitting properly allowing water to drain into the bowl and from the bowl into the pump.

Saniflo keeps going off when not flushed

Water pressure makes the unit turn on and off. If it turning on by itself then could be water draining back into the pump. Water could be leaking from the check valve on the discharge elbow into the pump or from the toilet tank into the bowl. Inspect the flapper on the check valve and the flapper on the flush valve.

Motor keeps triping in

If the pump is tripping the GFI then could be a broken pressure chamber, which is were all the electrical components are and if it senses water it will trip the GFI. Solution will be to replace pressure chamber complete.

If the pump is turning on by itself then water could be draining back into the pump. Either the flapper inside the toilet tank is leaking water or the check valve on the discharge elbow is not closing all the way. Solution will be to inspect flapper on flush valve (inside toilet tank) or may need to be replaced. Also the flapper on the check valve must be inspected for obstructions of may need to be replaced.

Pump cycles often

The following are the possible problems and solutions:
  1. The tank flapper (Flush Valve) leaking allowing water into bowl. Make sure flapper is fully seated. If flapper is fully seated and still is leaking replace flapper.
  2. Faulty Non-Return Check Valve, water leaking back into Macerator. Clean and Inspect check valve replace if after clean water still flows back into Macerator.

  2. Faulty Non-Return Check Valve, water leaking back into Macerator. Clean and Inspect check valve replace if after clean water still flows back into Macerator.
  3. Check micro switch, the micro switch turns on pump when the water level reaches to a determined level. Location of switch is in the pressure chamber. Check to see if switch is sticking. Note: For safety Macerator should never be operated with lid open

1 Answer

The pump is going every few minutes because there is water entering the toilet bowl ie there is constant trickle of water into toilet

Hi,
If you can't find the problem inside the toilet, turn off the water at the supply valve of the toilet.
Inside the back of the toilet there if a "flapper" that is probably bad. It is the rubber or plastic piece that lifts up when you push the flush handle. This is very easy to replace. Go to your local hardware or home discaount store and they will have numerous flappers that can be used for many different toilets. Follow the included intructions and you will be able to replace this your self.

My saniflo keeps coming on about every hour on its own and we cannot stop it making an awful noise

Suspect that you may have a leak at the flapper of the toilet bleeding water into the holding tank causing the pump to run unnecessarily.

Replace the flapper and clean the mating surface.

my guess is that it needs a flapper,...it leaks down and then the tank has to be filled again up to it's specified level. common problem with all toilets. cracklin joe
