Question about Audio Players & Recorders

I don't have the owners manual for the TDC1 speaker. I need to be able to connect my Tivoli iPAL radio to my TDC1 speaker. Is this possible? If so, I will need a connection cable. Where can I purchase one, what does it look like, what type and size are the connections

This first solutuon was not satisfactory. the responder did not read the problem or completely misunderstood. The problem is: I do not have an owner's manual for the Tivoli TDC1 center channel speaqker (2 woofers w/ a center tweeter). I wish to connect my Tivoli iPAL RADIO to this speaker. There is a single 8 ohm 1/8" output on the radio and a double input on the speaker (which has no power connection). What cable do I use and what is the steps for connecting the Tivoli radio to the Tivoli TDC1 speaker?

I am familiar with both devices here, and to my knowledge these speakers are regular home theater speakers, with a positive and negative style connection, correct? If that is the case then you will need some device between the iPal radio and the speakers, to be specific, an AMPLIFIER, or a RECEIVER. These speakers are made to be connected to a home theater receiver such as:

The speakers have no built in amplification, and the iPal does not have enough power to run these speakers by themselves. An amplifier is just another type of "receiver".

To get the results you desire, you need a "self powered" set of speakers, preferably ones with a mini-jack connection built in, such as:

Those would be perfect for your needs and would produce amazing sound, albeit not full 5.1, but music or anything from your iPal will not be able to do 5.1 anyway, you will get the same results from this speaker set, and they will work with anything!

Turn off the radio while connecting external speakers.
Connect the audio cable from the left external speaker to the "Audio OUT" jack on the back of the right speaker using the mini-plug on the end of the cable.
Connect the "Audio IN" cable on the right speaker to the headphones jack on the back of the Bose Wave radio, inserting the mini-plug on the end of the speaker cable into the jack until it clicks into place.
Attach the DC power cord plug to the back of the right-channel external speaker and plug the transformer on the other end into a wall outlet.
Switch on the radio
and set to the desired volume, then turn on the self-powered external speakers, typically by turning the on-off knob clockwise, and adjust the external speakers to the desired volume.
You can buy the cable directly from the manufacturer or walkdown to bestbuy or anylocal store.

Why has my Tivoli iPal AM/FM Radio stopped working?

Try removing the battery and power on. If it does not on, replace the unit, a new unit would cost you less that a repair of this unit

The sound disappears gradually after turning the radio on. When turning off and on again the sound is ok at first but after a few seconds it fades out. Same problem with mp3 player connected, i guess...

I have the same problem. Tivoli just had these made cheaply in China and sell them for a bunch here. POS. Their "outstanding" warranty is just a piece of paper.....100 bucks for fix a 150 dollar radio, don't think so.

Bought a used iPal and it only came with a european compatible plug. I bought a US converter. Plugged it in and can't make sense of it. The radio doesn't work. When off, there's no green light....

If the radio has a European-style plug, it's probably expecting 220-volt power since that's their standard. If you got a plug adapter but not a voltage converter, the radio won't work because the line voltage is too low.

Check the radio for a ratings label which will tell you for sure what the radio expects. There may be a selector switch on the back which will let the radio work on our line voltage. Otherwise you'll need to purchase a voltage converter to use the radio.

The battery is fully charged. It works while connected to the mains, but if i turn it off and remove the power cord (so it works on the batteries) it won't turn on. However, it will turn on while connected...

Change the battery in it. It can be found online. It is easily accessed on the back of the radio, by unscrewing 2 philips screws. I had the same problem with mine, with an old battery. Once turned on, I could unplug it and it would play for 12-14 hours. Apparently the iPal needs a higher voltage when it turns on, so your old battery is not able to deliver that.

Tivoli model two - low/no sound in base unit

I have exactly the same problem but found two work arounds, either one that I am completely satisfied. 1. unplug and replug the AC.
2. I have a subwoofer, when I plug the subwoofer cable half way in, the sounds of the base speak goes back to normal (but not all the way in)

Tivoli Radio,

Does your radio have a sleep button or option? If so, check to make sure that you did not set it on accident or with out knowing. Or if it has batteries, check them to make sure they aren't dead or mixed with old or new.

this is what you should do: charge it.. then when it's still connected to the power switch it on.. then you can remove the power plug and enjoy it for hours...
