Hi i had bought my philips go gear 1gb 3 yrs back right now i am facing a problem i just format the go gear drive from my pc and now when i load the go gear with some music it doesn't show the contents...

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet toyour computer and then copy them to your MP3 player. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs tomp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and thencopy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable tothe MP3 player and the computer.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track. Click on this link for instruction on converting musicfiles to mp3 file format :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r5798418-creating_transferring_mp3_music_files

I cant seem to download music to my go gear...i mean the usb is plugged in but my file woont show up on the computer...ill its doing is charging!please help...

Hi Soccer,

1-there are high chances that your go gear is infected by a computer virus.
2-open your go-gear drive in the compression/decompression program WINRAR and see if it shows your files.

3-if it shows your files there you are lucky you can save them elsewhere and scan them with an antivirus program

4-if it does not show your files you should install ubuntu (its free u can request a CD from ubuntu website), windows OS viruses do not execute in UBUNTU so you can copy your data and format your go-gear.

5-if that does not solve the problem i am afraid you will loose your data, but do format the drive
6-you can also install a fresh copy of the firmware to your go-gear from their website

i hope your problem will be solved,
if i solved your problem do not forget to vote for me and rate me. :)

regards,
salman

Files not playing on go gear

Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

Phillips GoGear not turning on

Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).
