I think that you have your bobbin thread coming out the wrong way, turn your bobbin over and make sure it is threaded right. Look at your manual, or go to brother-usa.com and download for free

The thread keeps coming out of the needle when I start to sew

Before you begin to sew, it helps to gently hold both thread tails in your left hand. Then manually, bring the bobbin thread to the top of the fabric. This eliminates the top thread pulling out of the needle and helps prevent those annoying knotted thread messes when beginning stitching.

How and Why to Bring up the Bobbin Thread

Another thing that will help (if you don't want to do the above), is make sure that the take-up lever is at its highest point before taking the first stitch.

My machine keeps clogging at the beginning of my sewing

Try these suggestions
1. Change the needle--use a needle that's for the fabric being sewed
2. Rethread the machine--top --make sure to use every thread guide
3. try a different bobbin--make sure bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case, & make sure the bobbin is turned the correct way in the bobbin case
4. make sure the thread has not come off the thread take up lever
5. Clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint or threads

Bobbin thread keeps balling up

Check the bobbin tension and that the thread is tight around the bobbin. Make sure that the bobbin is in the right way around - the bobbin thread should double back on itself coming out of the bobbin holder.

My sewing machine keeps getting jammed when sewing. the top stitch keeps getting tangled in with the bobbin thread and jamming up the machine.

Hello,
Here are a couple of things to try.

* Un-thread your machine and remove your bobbin. Clean any loose thread or lint out of your
bobbin case. Re-thread your machine, reinsert and re-thread your bobbin.

* Change your bobbin
There could be a nick along the edge of your bobbin spool that’s catching your thread as you
sew.

* When you start to sew a seam, grasp the upper and bobbin thread tails. Hold them back
and out of the way as you sew your first couple of stitches. This will keep them from getting
caught in your machine.

I hope this helps.

take out the bobbin, pull some thread from it. is it coming smooth without effort?
if yes, keep some thread outside and put back the bobbin and try again.
if thread is not coming out smooth, then check if something is stuck in the bobbin.

Take the thread out of the top and bottom and turn the handwheel by hand to see if the machine will rotate smoothly.
Rethread, making sure that the thread is in the bobbin tension slot and that the upper thread is in the tension and the take up lever.

Sorry for the delay in response. I just found the sight this evening.
