The problem is this: Ringtones are a very specialized and very small file. If you have ring tones,there is not much reason you cant put them onto the telephone.

I do now you can record sound on most telephones and make the telephone use that sound file as a ring tone.

That would be a DSL phone filter. It is needed to eliminate modem noises from telephone. The filter plugs into the wall socket and your telephone plugs into the filter. Most electronics stores sell them.

Does this affect outgoing faxes? Sounds as though you may have a faulty telephone line. Plug in a telephon handset to the telephone socket on the wall to hear the quality of sound. If there is any interference on the line this will affect your communication. But because it is intermittent, you may not hear anything when you listen. Try and use the machine on another line - I know - if you're at home there may not be another line to use but it does sound like a line fault to me.

Unplugged all telephones but one and still had trouble so I called Verizon. They discovered it was an incoming line that was malfunctioning. However, the Uniden telephone system still does not work and since it is still under warranty I will contact them.
To continue the solution of my telephone problem - It was discovered that the incoming line was indis repair. After it was repaired, I again set up my Uniden telephone system. It works with no problem. The word "searching"still appears on the face of the units, but it can be overcome with normal activity on the units.

On the phone menu, select "Base Settings" then click on "ringer type". The volume there has 1 - 5, try increasing the volume.

You may have a problem there since the output of the PC is in stereo and the mike of the telephone is in mono.

This is what you can do, use a stereo plug to connect to the PC. Get the left channel (this is the same channel for mono) wire and use this to connect to the mike of the telephone.

Whatever you play on your PC can then be heard by your friend.
