SOURCE: I have a 37" Insignia

Try plugging hdmi cable into hdmi 1 on your TV, then open the menu on TV and find the place it lets you to make selections on this, such as Satellite or hdmi 1. One of these selections have to work.
---------
does the hdmi port gets detected when you try in other hdmi ports.if not getting detected then it can also be fault in the hdmi ports.because as you said that hdmi port number 1 works.that means wires are proper.but other hdmi ports not working that means the ports are faulty if all the setting are proper in setup.
as the ports are soldered to the unit internally.if the soldering gets loose the connection will not get complete.so re-soldering is required to the loose ports.

if you are not familiar with doing this you can get it done by local repair technician familiar with this model .
-----------
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya.

SOURCE: When I hook up my LG 42 in. LCD HDTV to my Toshiba

Your laptop is causing this, not the TV. Perhaps there is a HDMI function menu on the laptop that you can change to correct this. If not, contact Toshiba directly, they can definitely answer the question.

SOURCE: I get a toshiba regza

Hi Steve,

You may power on the unit in the dark room and directly shine the flashlight to the LCD monitor. You will barely see an image or picture because the fault is either the inverter board or the lamp(backlight). You may isolate the problem but it will require you some tools and test instruments. Also, you must know some basic safety precaution in electronics troubleshooting.

Best way to find the faulty parts between the two you need to test the output of the inverter board. You can do it using the voltmeter or if does not available you may substitute a two 12v car bulb inseries to the output of the inverter board. Powering on the unit and look if the bulb will glow or not. Yes, your lamp has came to its end (busted). No, the inverter board fail.

You may look online for the replacement of defective parts. If you can't fix it yourself, I would advice you to send it to your local Toshiba service center or look for a professional to troubleshoot the problem. Also, check if the unit is under warranty, avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free or a little charge only. Don't attempt to open the back cover because it will void the warranty.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using Fixya.

Video is different from HDMI. From what I have seen you should have video inputs and component inputs. instead of trying these video inputs, look for tv/component button on your remote or tv settings.

FROM THE TOSHIBA MENU, (FIRST MAKE SURE YOU ARE SET TO
THE HDMI PORT THAT THE XBOX IS PLUGGED INTO) THEN SELECT
HDMI SETTINGS, UNPLUG HDMI CABLE FROM THE TOSHIBA TV (LCD
FLAT, MINE IS A 42") WAIT FOR THE SETTINGS TO HIGHLIGHT OR NOT
BE GRAYED OUT, THEN TURN OFF THE THREE SETTINGS, FOR COLOR
AND LIP-SYNC., SCROLL DOWN AND PRESS THE RESET BUTTON,
WAIT FOR MESSAGE TO APPEAR. TURN OFF THE TV AND PLUG IN THE XBOX.
TURN EVERY THING BACK ON. SEE IF IT WORKS.
NOT ALL CABLES ARE THE SAME AND NOT ALL TVS ARE THE SAME.
READ THE TV OWNERS MANUAL CAREFULLY, (RTFM), I FOUND A NOTE ABOUT
THESE SETTING ON THE SPECIFICATIONS PAGE.

Toshiba hdmi ports not working

I talked to Toshiba about his problem, this morning. They said they have never hear of such an issue. I told them the TV was less than 1 week old, and would hope Toshiba would do something in response to my alternative action of returning both my Toshiba HD DVD and 52LX177 for a new brand. They said all they can do is have me go to a service center for them to repair it. 1 week old TV and DVD, $4000, for repair; I don't think so. I talked to two different people a Toshiba regarding this, with the same answer. Very poor customer support, especially for a higher end product like this. I think I have no choice but to change brands.

HDMI Compatibility

It sounds to me like you have a HDMI Control issue. It sounds like the DVD player wants to control the receiver. Try turning off hdmi control on the TV, reciever, and the dvd player in their setup menus.

Let me know if this helped,
