Dryer Won't Start

Cam,
One thing you can check on if the circuit breaker is okay is to see if the drum turns freely. If the belt is still intact, you should have some resistance to turning the drum by hand. Many dryers have a safety in them that if the belt breaks the dryer will stop and not restart until the belt has been replaced. Hope this helps!

I have had my whirlpool dryer about 4yrs + (geq9800pw2) has always worked fine. Last week it started tripping ckt breaker toward the end of drying cycle. As of this morning, it blows ckt breaker...

leave off the oven and a/c breakers and plug dryer and reset the breaker. if not tripping occurs then one at a time trip back the oven first. if no trip then trip off again and trip the a/c. if no trip then trip the oven back. if trip you may have a wire problem. if dryer trip any way then possibly you have a short in dryer. check the heating element wires, power cord at the dryer side(terminal block).

Dryer will not turn on

Normal 0 Hi, UNPLUG the dryer! Remove the rear panel of the dryer and locate the fuse. It is white and ¼” wide and 3” long. It is located on the blower housing. Remove the wires and check to see if it has continuity. If it does not, you need to replace it.
Please let me know if this help or if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

Whirlpool dryer model LEQ8800JQ won't start when push start butto

I posted today (Jan 2, 2009) that I had same problem. Handyman tested for blown thermal fuse, etc and everything was fine. He said I have to replace the timer switch .. well guess what - I fidgeted with the start button (on/off) hard a few times while simultaneously pressing & releasing door switch and it did the trick. In my case the problem was most likely with the start button. Dryer is working fine now!

DRYER WON'T RUN

Just want to post the solution. After completely disassembled the dryer down to the motor, I did all component tests as instructed from the service manual and all passed. I narrow down to the motor and gave it a straight 110V external source and it did run ok. So, I checked the hardness terminal at the motor to see if it give the motor the power and it does not. I pulled out the terminal wire (brown) and plugged it back making sure that it has good contact and voila... the motor run as normal.

So the problem is: electrical wire contacts getting loose due to long time motor vibration.
