We are using four part paper on this printer. Lately we are having the problem that it is printing so heavily on the paper, that the first copy shreds apart when you pull the copies apart. How do I fix this please? Our customers are getting packing slips that are falling to pieces.

have you created same paper size as per windows 98 custom paper size ..... if not create as same please create the same and select the printing area also in the server properties ...... in the printing preference change page size to your created page size in layout tab advance option and in paper/quality tab advance option ... and check it ....
Please take note of the paper used. Letter Size A4 or custom. This can be set on the PC (Mac or Window). If not you may just reset the hardware by holding the 1st and 3rd button and then power on. You may hear a beep sound after resetting. Good luck
When a paper jam occurs during printing for some reason, the printer
beeps, displaying the message <PAPER JAM> in the display. When
a paper jam occurs, remove the jammed paper using the following
procedure, and then resume the job. If the message that indicates the
paper jam does not disappear even after removing the jammed paper
following the procedure, there is a possibility that torn pieces of
paper are still left inside the printer. Inspect each part of the
printer again, and completely remove all pieces of jammed paper.

This may be a mechanical problem- perhaps the belt which pulls the printhead back and forth is slipping a cog tooth in the drive mechanism. Check this belt for proper tension, and that the cogs are in good condition.
There is also a home sensor located at the left-hand side of the printhead movement area which sets the home position of the head, and from this, the start of printing is determined. If this home position sensor is defective, this will cause problems. One certain Epsons, this sensor was a switch, and this would become erratic.
