I had this problem and started doing every hack that I could find on the internet. I have a neighbor across the hall whose Magicjack worked fine, and so I plugged my Magicjack into his computer, and it worked fine. So, I knew my computer had the problem. After a month of hacks and fixes, to include reinstalling the operating system, I found something that worked! It has to do with the paging file on your computer. I partitioned my hard-drive and put the paging file on its own partition. I also installed a second hard-drive and gave the paging file a second partition to go to. After doing this, my computer runs much better and the Magicjack works like a charm. In the last 3 months of using it, I haven't had any problems. This solution also reduces the problems with fragmentation of your paging file and the overall memory.

Your ISP connection speed may be inadequate. Typically, the upload speed (outgoing voice) is much slower than the incoming speed. To check majicjack recommends that you test your system on http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ .
It's also possible that your internet provider is purposely delaying the outgoing latency in order to discourage VoIP that THEY don't provide. I think this is (or at least should be illegal) but in any case a complaint to the FCC might be in order.

Magic Jack will work with fax machines. You may have to experiment by slowing down the fax machines modem transmits speed. This is done in the machines menu.
The Magic Jack manual is quite clear, it can handle faxing.

SOURCE: my magic jack is not
I received the same error; when I visit the Majic Jack forum, it says that basically this error is due to a windows Firewall. I disabled my firewall, so that does not seem to be the problem; I also have several monitors, which may be interfering with my interrupt settings and ports.
I am sure if I put my computer back to an earlier date, it would correct everything, but I may lose data I have, as I have not backed up everything, nor do I feel like it. =)
So what I am saying is try to disable your firewall and see if that works. Meanwhile, I am trying to find an answer myself.
