Question about Craftsman 25cc Gas Line Trimmer
Remove the spark plug. Looking in hole to engine, pull on starter rope until the piston is down (flashlight helps). Insert a length of clean soft rope into spark plug hole until it is full.Then....you have just completed the step to stop the engine/crankshaft from turning while you remove the clutch drum. The screw holding it onto the END of the crankshaft is about a Torx (star) #25.It will probably be tight. Turn it counterclockwise to break it loose. It will not come all the way out however and will stay in the end of the neck of the clutch drum. Once that is off...you have to remove the clutch. It is on a threaded section of the shaft. The removal direction is counterclockwise. Use a blut object like a flat blade chisel and whack it sharply near the center on the clutch ears with a hammer. Penetrating oil (Liquid Wrench or PB Blaster) will assist in removal. After that...the worst of the hard stuff is done and you can continue on to what you will.
