word on HP tech support. The first rule of hp tech support is if they can't fix problem is to keep customer on line for at least an hr or until customer gets so worn out tht he/she hangs up. My first C5280 and HP's replacement both had problem. SO I call tech support to hopefully get a third C5280 that works. The technician would ask a simple question, I'd give him the answer then he would say " OK very good I gotta check this: and I'd be put on hold for 10 minutes, then he would come back and ask me another unrelated question, then go away for 10 minutes..... after an hr I hung up. I'll just take the C5280 with it non working "CD-DVD" printing feature back to Best -Buy.
So, might I suggest you next check to see if there is a 'firmware' update for your product. Firmware is the software that exists within the printer, and is not the software that you install to your computer.
The two type of software work together, so if you have been unlucky so far I suggest:
1. Like I said, determine what level of firmware you have on your printer, there may be instructions within your manual. Update this with any new firmware listed on the HP support site.
2. Download NEW driver AND software from HP support site, being careful to first remove all software supplied on the original CD. Software updates exist for a reason, and it is good practice to always obtain the newest versions from a devices' manufacturer, rather than using the 'outdated' supplied CD.
With these two new froms of software in effect, I imagine you stand a better chance of success.
