Question about Toshiba Satellite X205-SLI1 Notebook

1 Answer

I have a Toshiba Satellite X205 SLI1, a couple of months ago my video card failed. Had no display, and three long beeps on startup. After replacing the video card, the system booted and was working fine for about 15 minutes. Then it went completely dead. With no power lights at all. I checked the charger which seems ok. The battery has never worked, so I can't use that. Before I replaced the video card, the power light did come on. I'd appreciate some help. Thx

Check the power wires..inside ..maybe you didn't plug something when you changed the video card ..also you should check the new card for power needs..and see if it is a match ..some of them may be a problem in this matter .Anyway if you got a similar one this is not an issue ..
from what you say ..it seam a power mater and this is why I suggest to open it up and check all wires..even plug the charger with the board exposed..and check all plugs and wires and see ..whats all about ..If it does not power at all it may be the motherboard ..and probably you wired it wrong ..or it just gave up ..

Check the memory modules. Test one at a time to see if any of them is damaged. If you have only one, try a borrowed chip, or test yur modules in a borrowed laptop (it doesn't have to be the same brand/model, only the chips must be the same speed).

SOURCE: satellite x205-sli1 will not boot

Hi,

Thank you for sharing the beep code. It means that its a problem with the Video Card and Video Cards are usually buit-in to the Motherboard for laptops. The only way to fix it to replace the Motherboard in order to get the new Video Card. Hope I've helped you somehow.

Memory problem:

Sometimes when the computer is moved or over time a memory stick can become loose causing the computer to be unable to read the memory or get errors as it's reading it. Try fixing this issue by opening the computer removing each of the memory sticks you have in the computer and then placing them back into the computer.

If you have more than one stick of memory try removing all but one stick of memory and boot the computer. If this does not resolve the issue try removing that stick of memory and try one of the other sticks of memory.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

Iam having a problem in my toshiba satelliate x205 sli1 it want start up it only gives me 3 bippes and no screen i cant see anything i removed all my rams and it still wan't run and don't even give any...

The beeps may be from the ram memory ..remove them and use one at the time and see if you get at least the devices or the logo on the screen ..the idea is to see if it is a ram issue or a video card ..
I think it may be the ram ..but ..the fact that it does nto show anything on screen is odd..usually even if ti is teh ram memory it shows a splash screen or so ..
If trying ram one at the time (in case of multiple modules ) does not make a difference ..you may try to see if an external monitor works ..This will eliminate the dead display ..
In the last case you should see what options have for a new video card ..the issue with this is the card may be on board ..and not having space for another one ..You may need to change the motherboard ..let me know what you've done ..and how it behaved..

Pink dots on screen

Could be try connecting to an external monitor using the vga port. If the same problem appears on the external display the problem is most likely the video card. You may wan to update the display drivers.

I think when the tree beeps is on ..the blame is on the video card ..so unless you changed the video card as well you just made a wrong move ..The part that should be changed is either teh video card or the ram memory ..cause they are the only one that causes beeping when something is wrong ..So check the card it may be just not plugged well ..and the ram memory as well ..Unplug them ..and use them one by one and boot up and see how it behaves..Even if it is not enough ram in it for to run the operation system ..it should at least show the devices and the logo screen ..

Toshiba x205 Sli1 suddenly died. Got 3 beeps.

3 beeps usually means that either the chipset or the processor is dead. Nothing you can do, take it to a repair shop.

Toshiba Satellite® X205-S9349 bios beeping

the beep codes you are getting are for video but if the system boots and you have video im sure it is something with the ram on the video card. unfortunatly this will require a service from toshiba. these cards are intergrated and will require the motherboard to be replaced.
