MY SONY HBD-DZ810 HOME THEATER IS CONSTANTLY SHOWING PUSH POWER PROTECTOR

The "PROTECT" and "PUSH POWER" messages will flash alternately when the protective device of the amplifier has been activated because a strong signal was input, or if there is a short-circuit detected. Press the POWER button on the unit to turn off the system, and check the following items after "STANDBY" disappears.

1) Are the + and - speaker cords short-circuited?
2) Are you using only the specified speakers?.
3) Is anything blocking the ventilation holes of the system?

Great testimony for those Monster surge protectors, huh?

Did the failure coincide with the storms? If so, stick a fork in it, it's done.

Just the same, if you really want an assessment as to damage and cost you need to have someone knowledgeable give it the sniff test in person.

No one out here can do that.

Ihave a sony KP53S75 TV there was apower surge and now there is no picture. The red light blinks 4 times can anyone tell me about this?

Hi, if this TV was hit by the surge and it was protected by a surge protector, please follow this reset procedure.

The STANDBY light will flash if an issue is detected within the television. This can sometimes be resolved by simply following the steps below to reset the television.
  1. Turn off the television. IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
  2. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
  5. Turn on the television.

If the problem is still there and the light is still blinking 4 times, this means that the surge has destroyed the Vertical deflection component. in this case, it will have to be replaced.

please rate and have a great day.

Receiver misinterpreting IR signals

There can be a few causes of this. Since it happens with a number of remotes, we can state that the problem is inside the receiver. In the front of the receiver (inside) you should see a small silver box. Inside that is the InfraRed receiver. This is a 3 pin device. Check to be sure that the pins have good solder joints. A bad joint can cause problems. Also, after the receiver comes what is called a digital switch. This is similar to a transistor except that it makes the transitions more steep, like a step rather than a ramp. If this part is bad you can get these results. The digital switch will be marked c124 (perhaps or somehting close).
Check these out and keep us posted.

Noise and popping on Sony STR-DA3ES

Sounds like its going to square wave clipping and poking a dc offset at your speakers. Happens when the amp reaches power supply ceilings. Pink noise such as "rain sound" will push the output stages and power supply to limits. If its on all channels, check power supply caps and check for dry solder joints. also look for that crappy brown hold down glue that goes conductive/corrosive. check all output stages particularly about discrete output devices that are attached to heat-sinks. They have a bad habit of dry jointing also. Good Luck

looked for a free manual on line for you

Protector is flashing with the words under it saying"please power off" about 5 secs after I turn on my receiver

this happened to me.  one of the speaker wires had become unplugged and was touching another one... causing a short.  glad to know this unit is "smart" enought not to fry itself.
