Hi.

Err means that the camera is in fault mode. There is no code, so that the fault is generic. This kind of error is often associated with shutter problems or other loens error. If you have a spare lens, remove battery and test the spare lens.

Try releasing the shutter by pressing it, that will probably not make any difference, as camera or lens is faulty.
If the above does not work, the only thing you can do is contacting Fuji to get directions to have camera repaired, you can also get a quote from a tird party service here: Repair.

Someone reported this problem on a web blog:

I don't like the magnet that keeps the card compartment door closed. Jiggle it just a little and you get an "Err" message...a latch would have been better. My biggest complaint is that it does require the "AA" and CR123 batteries to operate fully. Would like to see Fuji address in a future model...

You mentioned formatting your memory card, and I'm wondering if it's a 4gb card. Read this interesting web blog about them:
http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2009/07/simple-fix-for-memory-card-locked-error.html

If nothing works, take it into a camera repair shop and see what they think. Often, they will know if a simple fix will work or if more service is required.

Good luck, thanks for using FixYa, and hope this helps.

Busy flash picture and 3484 code

When showing busy, most of the time the camera detected an error, but can't find out what is causing the error.
Try the normal "reset" method as follows:
Like a cold boot for a computer, the camera can be "rebooted"
follow the following steps:
Switch of the camera and remove the battery.
Remove the memory card and the lens. (if possible)
Recharge the battery. Wait till the indicator on the charger indicates the battery is fully charged.
Check all contacts, if they are clean and shiny. Contacts (from battery and memory card, only to be cleaned with a dry cloth or cotton swab(s).
Reinsert the battery, reinsert the memory card and re-attach the lens.
Then switch on the camera.
If this does not help, contact a certified Canon repair centre.

What does CHA mean

Nikon says this about CHA:

When a Memory card is inserted into a D-SLR camera, the camera checks the card for compatibility and usability. There are three possible results of the test:

1) Camera detects valid Memory card, displays number of remaining images in top LCD

2) Camera displays "FOR" in top control panel LCD. The camera has detected a valid disk partition map, but was unable to read the first sector of the Memory Card. Formatting the memory Card using the cameras format option, should resolve this condition and allow the Memory card to be used.

3) Camera displays "CHA" in top LCD. The camera has detected an invalid partition type or is not working properly. Reformatting the memory card may allow it to be used. If an approved memory card causes the camera to display the "CHA" indicator contact the memory cards manufacturer for assistance.

(Nikon's list of "approved" memory cards can be found here.)

Please note that the default disk format used in Windows XP is FAT32 and if a card is formatted with this setting on an XP system, a D1 series camera will report "CHA". Reformat the card as "FAT" to use in the D1 series camera.

When the CHA error is shown, typically the camera will freeze and require that the battery be removed from the camera before it can take another picture. After that picture has been taken, the camera freezes up again for many owners.

Some owners have success removing and either re-seating or inserting a new memory card in the camera.

Some owners have success clearing the error by removing the lens and then reinstalling.

The key to these "fixes" is that they don't all work for everyone. You might need to return the camera to Nikon for repair. You can arrange for Nikon service here.

I hope this helps and good luck. Please rate this reply

Err..message from top displays on my FujiFilm FinePix S1Pro

This problem is caused by the plastic memory card door.

There is a door that hides the memory card on the back of the camera.

The door has a small plastic part on the left side that when the door is closed fits inside the camera.

When the door is open this part is exposed. It is right next to the "^" in "^ PUSH TO EJECT"

If you place one drop of superglue on the top of this little plastic part of the door(when open) and let it dry overnight(LEAVING THE DOOR OPEN OVERNIGHT.)

This will slightly build the plastic up about .05-1mm.

The problem is caused by the plastic part being about 1mm too small, liking resulting from normal wear.

I have tested this, and it seems to have resolved my issue with the S1 Pro I bought on e-bay

Canon eos digital camera, display err 2 in window. will not take any photos. The battery is fully charged and istalled correctly.

ERR 02 usually indicates a problem with reading the memory card. Remove and reinsert the memory card (check the pins in the camera with a strong light to make sure no pins are bent). If that doesn't work, try another memory card. If it still doesn't work, the camera may need to be serviced.

Err message on my S2 Pro

Try removing the lens, the memory card, and the lithium batteries. With freshly charged AA batteries, turn the camera on. If it comes on without the "err" message in that case, your problem lies with the memory card, the lens, or the lithium batteries. Turn off the camera and add these things until you encounter the problem again.

For a lens, check to make sure the electronic contacts are clean and that the lens gets fully twisted into place, and that if there is an aperture lock, that the aperture is set to the smallest possible aperture (22 or 16, usually).

For the memory card, reformat it elsewhere if it is causing problems. The Fuji S2 is notorious for being picky about memory cards.

Lithium batteries that are slightly run-down can cause all sorts of issues. Your S2 doesn't need to use lithium batteries, except for the built-in flash. You can add an extra AA battery pack to replace the lithium batteries, and that will improve the camera's reliability.

"busy" in all modes except non-flash setting on 300d

bad memory card most likely.
try reformatting card in camera.
try battery out for 10 seconds for full reset if that does not work.
may have a problem writing to card.
you can also try another card. cf i believe on that camera.
good luck.

Pentax K10D Both LCD screens are blank

Did you put a memory card in the camera?
My camera did this today, and I resolved it by putting a memory card in, but even when one has been out before it still turned on, so I'm not sure that is the resolution. Did you ever find out what was causing it?
