The diagonal simply slips inside the hole at the rear of the telescope. A small thumb screw secures it. The eyepiece then goes into the diagonal.

Brother knocked our telescope over & jarred it out of alignment. how to realign?

This is a refractor telescope that normally never needs collimation (optical alignment) More than likely the focal tube got knocked out of alignment or the diagonal mirror was shifted. I believe the objective lens is glued in so there is little you can do there. Pull out the diagonal and focus tube, check the focus tube for roundness and that it moves in and out smoothly. If the diagonal mirror looks skewed to the eye, find a cheap replacement on EBAY.

My son picked up a Tasco 302048 telescope at a local thrift store. The "L" lens? is missing. Can you tell me where I can find one? Is that even the name of the lens? Thanks, Veronica &...

You mean the mirror diagonal like this one:
http://agenaastro.com/celestron-1-25-telescope-star-diagonal.html

These come in two basic sizes-- 1.25 inch and .965 inch-- measure the hole in the focuser and buy the correct size.

Try these two retailers:

We cant see anything dont know if we r looking in the right place or not nothing is showing upside down i thought it was supposed to . we bought this at toys r us as they were moving,so we cant take it...

We receive more complaints on that brand than just about any other. There are two types of scopes.

A refractor with a lens in front and a focuser on the back--- and a reflector that uses mirrors.

For a refractor-- insert the diagonal onto the rear of the scope and then put the eyepiece into the diagonal-- DO NOT USE the 2x barlow. Take it out in the day time and practice focusing on a distant object.

If it is a reflector-- just put the same eyepiece into the focuser -- do not use the 2x barlow if you have one. Again take it outside during the day time and practice.

I have a Bushnell old school 78-9512 that is missing the diagonal mirror. Will I still be able to use the scope? and.. Is there any where I can get a piece by piece diagram of ALL the parts that come with...

Yes but the eyepiece will be in an uncomfortable position without the diagonal. You can buy these from many on-line retailers-- like this one--

We have a eduscience telescope (bought several years ago) Our grandson found it our attic and states that it is missing a diagonal mirror. Where can I find one.

Measure the hole in the focuser-- diagonals come in 3 sizes:

.965, 1.25, and 2 inch sizes.

Your scope is probably a .965 contact Surplus Shed and see if they have one:

Can't figure out how to put the eye-pieces (3) on our Selsi Telescope 335x.

All eyepieces go into the FOCUSER end of the telescope. You never said if this is a REFRACTOR or a REFLECTOR style telescope.

On a refractor you have a lens in the front and the focuser in the back.

On a reflector the focuser is on the SIDE of the telescope near the front end.

The diagonal goes in first --- and the eyepiece goes into the diagonal -- if this is a refractor style telescope. Here is a picture of the DIAGONAL.

Cant adjust the mirrors to see any thing

Remove the eyepiece, and look down the focuser tube. The small diagonal mirror should have the full main mirror visible. If not, then adjust the diagonal mirror until all the main mirror is viaible, and the diagonal is centered. Then the main mirror is aligned until all the images viewed are concentric, with your eye being in the middle. That should do it.

Can't bring reflector telescope to focus.

Orion UK has a very good reputation so I'm surprised you are having a problem. However, I see they are offering this with a Crayford focuser. Most Crayfords have a lower profile than traditional rack and pinion types and they may have failed to realize this could effect back focus. If the scope is new I'd talk to them. If not, find a 2" long by 2" diameter focuser extension tube.

If it does have a traditional rack and pinion focuser it may be missing the extension tube. Many of this type have a threaded on extension tube which is used for visual work and removed for use with a 35mm camera. The solution's the same.

No focusing

Most refractors will not come to focus without the use of the star diagonal or a drawtube extension tube. HTH, Geo.
